Works flawlesly
I purchased this to run an HDMI signal through conduit that was too small to run an HDMI cable. Picture quality is great, no problems so far.

FINALLY!!! What I should have bought to begin with!
We finished our basement recently and did a home theater setup. I wasn't sure in the end where all my equipment would go so pretty early on I decided to run Cat5e for video instead of a long HDMI cord. I already had plenty of it and knew I could use an HDMI extender to achieve what I wanted. At the end of the day, this extender from OREI is probably what most people need or are looking for. It can do 4k HDR10 at 60hz with HDCP which will allow you to play anything you'd want today on something like say a Roku Ultra, which is what I'm using. I bought two other HDMI extender setups before finally coming across this one so really take the time to look at the specs when buying. The first HDMI extender I bought did not support HDCP, the second HDMI extender I bought supported HDCP, but not HDR so it wasn't until I bought this OREI unit that I got everything I wanted for my home theater setup. Installation was painless. I took a standard plastic sidemount gang box, attached it to an exposed stud in my equipment closet and then ceiling mounted the receiver unit by the projector. Whats also nice with this unit is you only need power on one end. The power from the receiver end also powers the input end where you connect your HDMI cord. Haven't took advantage of the USB-C connections yet, but thats a great bonus to have right there by all of my other equipment. Really pleased with this unit and would definitely buy from the brand again for future needs.

Try a different product
Just doesn't work. Orei support is unhelpful. I called support to see if there was an issue with my configuration. They told me they would forward my case to the next tier of support. They never called me back and the product still doesn't work. They do not even publish the latest firmware on their website for me to attempt a firmware update. Poor form Orei. My configuration is a ~30ft cat 6 cable through a wall and above a drop ceiling to a projector. Nothing near the limits advertised. Thinking the issue may be with signal interference on the cat 6 cable, I grabbed a known good 2ft cat 6 cable from our patch panel as test cable and this thing still won't transmit the video signal to a test display. All my HDMI cables work fine without the Orei equipment in between so I know the issue is with their equipment.

Really nice system. The USB-C for power and video is a nice touch.
This thing is pretty cool. It not only allows the extension of HDMI, but also will convert USB-C to HDMI/video and also has a USB-C charging port as well. The fact that it fits in a single gang outlet in a wall is perfect for when you want to have a projector in the air, but have the connections close at hand. OREI products have been great. I use extenders and splitters and switchers made by them and have had 0 issues. I see no reason why I will with this either.

Great concept!
For some reason couldn't get it to work. My application had a 50 ft hdmi cable but wasn't getting a stable picture my receiver was switching from 1080 to 4k. I though it was the hdmi cable which I tested with a hdmi tester and use the common sense way which is to connect the source and feed directly with questioned hdmi cable. Everything started to work in 4k and no switching once it was connected directly.

Extender for modern equipment
I wanted the ability to run DP-alt to my TV from different devices that can remain mobile. Wall plate HDMI extenders have been around forever now, but I have never seen a USB-C extender before. I tested with my Mac Mini plugged into the USB-C port and it worked as perfectly. I really liked that you only need power on the end with HDMI out, normally that's where the TV is and it should have power.

The receiver burned out after 15 months of light use.
The unit was used for a lecture hall projector a couple of times per month and wasn't heavily used. When it was working, the unit provided acceptable video quality. I liked the in-wall unit; it looks professional. However, for that price range, it should last longer. On top of that, I can't find a replacement receiver either. I just purchased a whole new set.

Randomly Electric spark
I am using it on my daily monitor. After several months, it started randomly sparking and visible flash and sound. I checked wires, closed other items, and any potential impacts, but doesn't change. While sparking moment monitor goes off as well. The flash and sound came up from the white box, not from the black one.
