Happiness is a Warm Puppy (1) (Peanuts®)

Charlie Brown holds a special place in my heart as my Dad absolutely loved the cartoons and we never missed the television productions. He even nicknamed my brother Charlie Brown when he was little. My Dad has been gone for many years but I came across this book in an old second hand store and instantly thought to buy it for my Mom. The copy in the store was too damaged to be enjoyed so I purchased this used book online and was very pleased to receive a "like new" copy. We can all use a little more Happiness in our lives these days - I highly recommend this book!

Glorious! What else could it be but glorious? "Happiness is one thing to one person and another thing to another person." Charles Schulz and the Peanuts gang are a national treasure. Amazing, what a group of eight years old could teach all of us.

I tell my daughter that the favorite book of my childhood is "Happiness is a Warm Puppy". Of course, there were two other close contenders. Happiness is a book that is easy to read, glance at the pictures and understand without reading. I think that it's best when read with someone else with my puppy dog laying next to us, as she always does. Charles Schultz produced a simple, loving masterpiece that, I believe, ought to be read by and shared with everyone. I highly recommend it for anyone with children, anyone with a dog, anyone who enjoys Peanuts. On some deep existential level, I suspect that Schultz's arguments on meaning are valid, but, I just look at it superficially and love it! I give this an A+.

I have this book as an original copy. It was handed down to me as a child and I saved it for my own children. We love it so much that I ordered a new copy as well. The book is well made and will withstand my children's "abuse" but still looks the same inside as my book. This book could cheer anyone up, from a child to the biggest Peanuts fan. I definitely recommend it!

I had this book when I was 17 years old and loaned it to a sweetheart who never returned it back. 42 years later I purchased it again and found the same beautiful book with the Peanuts characters defining happiness as only they can. It is a hard bound square book. The care and love put into its publication is evident in this finely crafted book.

I originally bought my copy of this in 1967 thru a school book sale. Then I lost it in a move somewhere. Everybody should own this so I got my replacement via amazon. Sweet little sentiments. My personal fav: "Happiness is catching fudge on the first bounce." Makes no sense without the accompanying Schultz cartoon so buy your own copy and enjoy.

I remember owning a dog-eared version of this children's classic in the mid-seventies. It is still just as wonderful today. I gave it to my wife as a stocking stuffer and she was tickled pink in all the right ways. Charles Schultz is a total genius. Bonus, we got a beagle puppy for Christmas who is just as adorable as Snoopy. :-)

Lo recibí antes de lo que esperaba, es un rosa muy lindo, el libro es pasta gruesa cubierto con una linda tela, me encanto y el texto es muy dulce debería venir cubierto con algún plástico tenía un pequeña manchita negra supongo por el manejo, pero casi no se nota, es un libro de buen tamaño, corto, pero muy bonito, vale la pena creo que el precio es justo.

Un simpatico libretto che merita, contiene tutte le citazioni più famose sulla felicità.Si legge velocemente in meno di cinque minuti, ma il prezzo è proporzionato, quindi l'acquisto mi ha soddisfatta in pieno.Servizio Amazon eccellente come sempre.

Utterly charming, simple, true to childhood.

いつも意地悪ばかりのルーシーが幸せそうにスヌーピーを抱きしめているのが印象的な表紙の本。Determined社から1962年にギフトブックとして出版され、米国でベストセラーになった絵本の復刻版です。全部で30の「Happiness is〜」で始まる短い簡単な文と、その隣に、文に合わせたピーナッツキャラクターの絵が載っています。タイトルの「幸せはあったかい子犬」から想像できるように、日常生活にありふれたごく普通の幸せを取り上げています。キャラクター達の生き生きとした子供らしい笑顔がとても可愛らしく、こちらまで幸せな気分になってきます。1979年に発刊されたフルカラーバージョンも現在復刊されているようですが（ペパーミント・パティが表紙の本です）、私は、カラーだとどうしても絵のほうに目が行ってしまい、こちらの黒一色のイラストのほうが文章も楽しめるし、素朴さが感じられて良いと思いました。中国で印刷されたようで、製本はあまり綺麗とはいえません。日本のギフトブックと同じ感覚で買うと驚くかもしれません。そんなアメリカらしい大雑把さも含めて楽しめると良いと思います。
