Hoypeyfiy 1J0823509 Hood Latch Lock with Pull Handle, Hood Release Latch Assembly Replacement Compatible with 1999-2005 VW Jetta Golf GTI MK4

This is not OEM latch, but it works, is a great price, and it came fast. What else can you ask for. Granted if I had a R32 Golf, I would pay more to get the OEM, but for a normal Golf, this is great.

Was skeptical on this latch after reading the mixed reviews but decided to try it and it did not disappoint. Easy install too!

Used this on my 2002 VW GTI because the stock one broke. As far as functionality, it fits and it works. The only issue I have is that the plastic handle doesn’t really stay on strong enough to pop the latch sometimes. Also had to zip tie the line to it because the line would come out sometimes and you couldn’t get the hood to pop. Overall though I would buy it again.

Bought my car and the hood latch was destroyed and had to ratchet strap my hood to keep it closed. This worked extreme well. My hood is dented and misformed so it was only a matter of time before it messed this one up. I just bought another one and it works perfectly fine. If you have a perfect hood that isn’t all jacked up then you should be perfect. No conplaints from me and I’m on my 2nd hood latch from this company

Absolute junk. Pull tab broke on installation, the factory one is 12 years old and we reinstalled it. The problem with these mk IV latches is the rear part bends to the rear. You can bend them straight once or twice but then they need replacement. With this replacement the rear parts bent the first time I closed the hood. The metal isn't hardened at all so they bend easy. I pulled the replacement back out, bent the original back into shape and reinstalled. I reckon I could weld a tab onto the old one to reinforce and maybe make it last a few more seasons. The only thing this replacement is good for is recycling, they should be embarrassed to sell it.

Cant beat the value. Was going to have a local shop do it and they said it would be almost 200. So I ordered the part and did it myself. Very easy install and works great

Little plastic handle was junk, broke off third time I tried to open hood. So I have to buy another part.

Just like OEM, I had to swap over the wiring harness to the new latch but it fits perfectly and now my hood closes on first try! Thankyou.
