Ted Danson starred in this 1998-2004 CBS sitcom as Dr. John Becker, a Bronx general practitioner whose non-existent bedside manner and abrasive, sarcastic demeanor masked deep-down dedication to his patients. Putting up with Becker on a daily basis were model-turned-diner-owner Reggie (Terry Farrell), blind newsstand man Jake (Alex Desert), and his nurses-no-nonsense Margaret (Hattie Winston) and bubble-brained Linda (Shawnee Smith).129 episodes on 17 discs. 46 hrs. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English (SDH); interviews; gag reel. Review: Great comedy sitcom to release your stress with acceptable video quality. - Great show to release stress, watching Becker bicker and complain about literally everything is hillarious. Packaging is acceptable, not great but also not horrible, i have seen much worse but for $30 bucks i am not complaining. Video quality is also reasonable for DVD's from late 90s to early 2000s, don't expect much but if you can overlook average image quality this is a great show to enjoy. I wish we will get blu-ray/4K release of this show one day hopefully. Review: Great show. Danson is awesome. Funny. Worth every penny. - This show is underrated. Ted Danson is underrated. Here's a second distinct character besides Sam Malone on Cheers. He's prickly and self centered, but he cares enough to run a small clinic for the underprivileged and common man instead of doing a high paying research job. The main thing he's also very funny due his personality and the way he behaves. To me worth every penny.

Grumpy, brilliant, and exactly the sarcastic therapy I needed.
The nostalgia is strong with this one. I laughed, I cringed, I remembered what life was like when people still used payphones and no one texted their doctor. The DVDs play perfectly and the series matches my sarcasm and unresolved emotional issues.Highly recommend if you miss sharp humor, late ’90s vibes, and a main character who speaks fluent frustration.

One of the best and underrated sicoms from the late 90's to early aughts.
Becker (Ted Danson) is a superficially grumpy but ultimately compassionate family doctor that serves poorer folks. Most of the action takes place in either Becker's practice or the local diner run by Reggie (Terry Ferrell). Becker is acerbic, opinionated, and doesn't mind loudly sharing that. The other characters each have their idiosyncratic traits. All are perfectly cast and funny. The show is hysterical and is truly one of the underrated sitcoms of the time. Sadly, there's no BluRay transfer, only DVD. It's watchable but it's a constant reminder of how bad broadcast television and 480p video looks today. But aside from that, totally worth watching.

Best case I've come across
The reviews about the case are crazy. This is hands down the best case I've come across so far. It's very sturdy, it packs a lot of discs in there very well. It holds the discs tightly and safely. I honestly wish more companies had this nice of a case. Most other sets have loose holders, so loose the discs fall out everywhere, they have broken tabs, or they come in those terrible sleeves that scratch. I'll take this case any day. You just have to be smarter than the case. It does take some finesse, push with the very tip of your finger, and pull with the correct angle from the sides. It's not that hard. They are on there tight but you'll get the hang of it fast. As far as the show goes, the picture quality is a lot better than I was expecting. Sure it would be nice if they came in blu-ray, but they don't. It's perfectly acceptable and enjoyable to watch on DVD. I'm also glad they did not zoom in. It's presented in 4:3 aspect ratio, so yeah it's just a box on your TV. But that is how it was made and aired, I don't want it zoomed in where it cuts off the top and bottom like some series do. Overall I'm very happy with this set. And it doesn't break the bank.

DVD series "BECKER"
Great cast! Excellent acting and the writers did an amazing job with all the actors' lines, very enjoyable series, so many laughs. Rather surprised and a little sad that Reggie was written out of the final series, although, at the end Chris and Becker were a good team. The case the discs come in is not the greatest design (see video), the 3 plastic frames that the discs attaché to are flimsy and discs awkward to get out and put back. Otherwise, an excellent purchase.

A Favorite
This is one of the few programs I watched faithfully from series premier to series finale. Brilliant writing, top notch acting, good continuity. We all have a touch of John Becker in us, and Ted Danson nails it perfectly. The entire cast is in their element here; they are believable in their roles, and never flag once. Political Correctness goes out the window early on, and never returns, an element sorely missing in entertainment lately. Entertainment has lost its edge, despite the occasional step in that direction, but TV programming has been in a downward spiral for quite some time now, so watching these episodes is a true breath of fresh air. Several reviewers have complained about this product's packaging and visual quality, but one point is subjective and the other is moot; there are a lot of discs in this box, and two discs attach to each "page" if you will does pose a risk of cracking the discs as you remove them, so simply use caution while opening and you'll be alright. There is one lone disc, the final in the series which is loosely placed in the case, so simply using a generic paper CD sleeve suffices. As for video quality, the show is around twenty years old and technology has come a long way, so call this a time piece.Just like seeing a show like "The Munsters" in black and white. Take it for what it is, no unreasonable expectations, and this delivers. (Unrelated side note: It was during this program's run where I developed a heavy crush on Shawnee Smith; I simply adore her in this role.) Bottom line: Excellent program with a few minor packaging issues.

Happy Chappy
Picture and sound remarkably better than anticipated. First disc out of every season worked after testing, the others would not. Fortunately we have more than one player and I tested the discs on the other machine, and it worked like a charm, all working. Good buy as I loved this series.

I used to watch this on the tele way back when. Recently I saw an episode again and I just thought to myself that this is a series I want to own. Great humour and fun characters. Based in New York where a cranky Doctor with no time for fools has a practice. However, he has a heart and he cares for his patients even if the hard truths are delivered at shotgun speed.

Aún solo he visto el primer DVD, pero es un regalo estupendo. El envío rápido, eso sí, hay que tener en cuenta que es Regiòn 1, NTSC

These DVDs are from US and I can't play them in my player in Europe. Really disappointing

This series is great, we loved it. Becker is a doctor who really cares about his patients, but is always complaining about something, the behaviour of others and authorities. The characters are eccentric and funny because of the way they behave.
