This is the best I found to keep out mice. Be careful to wear gloves. Very expensive but worth it

Xcluder is a very effective way to block holes and gaps where critters can come in. I've used it to block obvious gaps around pipes, gaps in siding, gaps around garage doors. I even used it to prevent rodents from getting into our outdoor AC unit. They had been getting in and gnawing on the wiring requiring multiple service calls. Once I realized what the root cause was I filled the gaps in the AC housing using Xcluder and the problem was solved permanently. Excluder is much stronger than steel wool, but still can be cut with a scissors. Xcluder comes in a long roll so you can fill a large area without leaving gaps between the separate pieces of steel wool. And Xcluder doesn't rust. It's spongy and springy so it fills the hole and then reexpands slightly to stay in place naturally. Steel wool tends to stay squished once it's compressed, Xcluder bounces back. I was surprised how effective and useful Xcluder is and always keep some on hand. Our home is out in the countryside and critters are a constant battle, but once I find the access point Xcluder is my go-to solution to keep them out.

Combined with spray foam, this provides an effective barrier to rodents.

I used this product to block mice from entering into a bathroom duct fan. They managed to get in and cause some problems. It works great. The only negative I have is that it’s very difficult to cut into the size I needed.

I've loved this product so far, --- BUT A WORD OF CAUTION... WEAR A SAFETY MASK, EYE PROTECTION AND THICK GLOVES WHEN WORKING WITH IT. This is sharp and many particles get in the air. This could pose a huge safety risk if not used carefully. Truth is, this product will work for its intended use but you need to be smart about using it. Keep it away from kids, pets and food. --- I recently purchased an old house that had a lot of little visitors (mice) that I needed to keep out. I've used this stuff all over the place and held in place either by Great Stuff foam or caulk. So far I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the whole box. It is hard to cut... your hand will get tired and you'll need to sharpen your scissors somewhat frequently. But I've found that the steel wool can be split in half which makes it easier to cut, and even doubles the amount you get from the box. You don't need a lot of this stuff... just a little will be enough to keep mice from chewing through.

This stuff is amazing, I haven’t had rodent problems since I packed this into crevices in my roof. It handles like a cactus and pricks anything that tries to grab onto it. I covered a square foot hole in my foundation with it. Put rocks on top to prevent mice from pushing it. Let’s just say the original dirt tunnel became a whole excavation site. Fortunately for me, the mice gave up. They didn’t even try pulling on the material either. Nothin like sharp pain to deliver a subtle message. I would definitely wear puncture resistant gloves, but bare hands is possible. It is water permeable, fyi.

I had problems with mice entering the weeping holes in the brick work of our house scuttling up the inside of the brick and residing in the attic. A small strip of this product blocks the hole completely but allows needed drainage. Made with stainless steel wire so should last a long time. No mice since installation and we were getting 12 to 15 every winter . Product isn’t cheap but it works and contains enough material for several homes.
