Great value
Nice and thick padding to put under our rug for added cushion and to keep the back of the rug from scratching the floors. Easy to cut to size with scissors (need to be sharp), stays in place, no odor, no slipping. Great pad at a reasonable price!

Good protection and peace of mind for LVP flooring
We recently installed new LVP flooring in our basement and needed a protective rug pad for our 8x10' area rug. We initially tried the Mohawk grip felt rug pad but found out that our manufacturer didn't approve of the rubber backing so we went with this just felt version. We chose the 1/4" height which we found adequate if not just a bit high as it does raise the rug off the surface (see photo). Any larger and it would be a tripping hazard. The product arrived rolled and larger in size than our area rug so trimming was necessary. One side is rough to hold against the carpet and one is soft for the floor. We trimmed 2" off each side. The easiest way we found to trim it was to place the rug upside down, place the mat on top 2" offset from 2 corners and then trim the remaining two corners. We creased each and used a 4' straightedge to draw a line with a sharpie and we used a sharp boxcutter to make several small passes. We placed a remnant piece of carpet under the pad and cardboard so as to not cut through the rug. We've had the mat on for around one month now and on our 8x10' rug with some furniture on top have noticed no slipping. It gives perhaps a bit of cusion but not much but that wasn't our intent. We purchased it so that the rug would not scratch the flooring and for that it seems to be doing it's job. Overall I would say it's a good value and much cheaper than some competitor products. Positives + Great price compared to competitors + Seems like a well made product and from a reputable brand + Different size options and comes larger to allow for trimming + No noticeable smells or offgassing + Doesn't move when weighted with furniture. Did not try it without. I would imagine a heavy large rug may be sufficient but a smaller rug would need some type of rubberish backing to prevent slipping. Negatives - Even at the 1/4" height at offset the recommended 2" from the sides it still sticks up a bit which can gather some dust and perhaps be a tripping hazard. - This may be both a positive and negative in that since it is so dense it can be difficult to cut properly. A sharp new blade and several passes with adequate pressure seemed to work best.

Soft cushion and worth the price
I'm so glad that I found this felt rug pad! I updated a room with a concrete floor and worried about the washable rug not having enough cushion if a toddler fell and bonked their head. This has alleviated that fear! Great cushion - almost like those under my regular carpet. And my feet aren't ice blocks when I go in that room with this cushion and the rug on top. Stays in place well. I didn't notice it having an odor that was unpleasant but definitely something similar to a new-carpet odor but less strong. I left the door open and the odor was gone within a few days. Not the prettiest thing to look at, but man it looks like it's going to last a long time. This was also one of the thickest rug pads I could find.

Your feet deserve the padding!
Works really well and gives a nice cushion to area rugs. Had to trim it as it was slightly larger than the rug. Rugs do not slip either. No odor. Thickness is good. Works on hard or carpeted floors. And my puppers love it!

Great carpet pad!
We bought this to go under a new 9x12 area rug in our living room. I hemmed and hawed as to whether I should get one with the rubber on one side but since the rug itself is decently heavy and wasn’t sliding around on our new floor at all without the carpet pad I decided against a rubber sided one. So for us, this was not for keeping the carpet in place at all (which the directions warn against buying this one for that purpose) but because we wanted the extra plushness underfoot. It was folded in a giant square twice over (I think) and wrapped in plastic for shipping, no box. It unfolded easily with creases flattening out. There are two slightly different textures on each side - one plain felt and the other kind of like a textured netting almost. I wasn’t sure which side to place where but put the semi-textured side against the back of the carpet and the plain felt against the floor. The area rug hasn’t budged at all, although we do now also have a couch anchoring one end (which the directions say to do if using a non-rubber sided carpet pad). I don’t think that would’ve mattered for us however because before we put the new couch in the room there was nothing on the area rug for over a week and it didn’t move an inch or slide at all. The carpet pad was slightly longer than the rug in length. We lucked out that we were able to position it so that end has the couch on it and is back against a wall so we didn’t feel the need to trim it since no one would see it. There is absolutely no smell. Price was excellent, way better than other brands for the same thing, felt high quality, and the 1/4” suits us perfect. Highly recommend.

Perfect for our new rug
I ordered a 4X6 Skyrim rug for my son's hardwood bedroom floor. The rug is pretty, but very thin, so it needed a pad under it. When I researched pads, I was shocked that most of them cost as much as the rug itself (about $70 or more), just for a 4X6 pad. Then I found this one. Of course I've heard of the Mohawk brand, and it got pretty good reviews, so I took a chance. I figured at the cost I wouldn't be out much if it didn't work. It is terrific! It adds some much-needed padding to my son's rug, and now he can actually sit on it to read and play. I will say this rug pad is not non-slip, so you might want something rubberized under it too. I happened to have one of those mesh rubberized pads, so I put that down first, then this pad, then the actual rug, and it's great. I highly recommend it! The pad is slightly bigger than the 4X6 advertised, at least the one I got was. I trimmed off (with a little difficulty, since it is pretty thick) about three or so inches from the top and about the same from the side. I used regular scissors to trim it. If you don't have sharp scissors, you might be able to do it with an Exacto knife or box cutter. The pad came loosely folded, so it had a few creases in it, but when I put it down and put the rug down on top of it, the creases pressed out nicely.

Difficult To Deal With
It’s okay - the pad itself seems to be good quality & it is probably better for smaller rugs, but it is such a pain to deal with on an 8x10 rug. It’s impossible to do by yourself. Every time you try to adjust the rug to fit on the pad it slides with it so it’s pretty much not doable. The only way I was able to do it was to use my peel & stick corner pieces that I got to hold it down. This kept it in place to situate the rug; however, then it was too big and needed to be trimmed which was also difficult to do since I had already attached all the corners to the floor. Standard rugs are 8x10, plus that is what it is labeled as in the product description, so why is there extra that needs to be trimmed? It took me so long to get it to where it needed to be. I’m glad to have a pad under the rug now, but I would not recommend this product to anyone unless you have someone to help you - even then I could see it being difficult because it slides too much.

Rug underpad
Easy to cut off excess to fit Persian rug. It will not secure rug but we read that. Our dining room table is on top and not needed. Exactly the type our research said we should have to maintain the value of the Persian. Feels nice walking on rug. A bit too pricey

Wood flooring carpet pad
This rug pad makes our carpet so much softer to walk on. The thickness is 1/2 inch, (is cut from a full piece of felt) and a perfect fit for the 8 x 10' length, leaving a 2" border for the carpet to cover the underpad. We cannot speak to durability yet, but the underpad seems very sturdy. The felt glides softly over the hardwood but we will be placing furniture on top, so we do not anticipate a slipping issue. Delivery to Canada was just over a week from the US. We couldn't be more pleased with overall quality. We are ordering a second pad today. Highly recommend this company!

Great rug pad
I just purchased a new area rug and wanted a better under pad than what I had (just a thin gripper pad). I have a .47 pile height area rug (8x10) and wanted a 1/4” under pad. Other reviews say it is not “non slipping” but with the heavy area rug on top, it isn’t sliding anywhere! Plus I have furniture resting on 3 edges. Cuts easy with regular scissors. I love the plushness of my area rug with this under pad. Cost was a good deal for this quality underpad. I would certainly recommend it for a larger area rug.
