Best shower control ever
So my shower door broke. A cheap little pivot pin on the bottom corroded and snapped in half. No replacement available, so I got a new shower door delivered. After taking the old frame off, I found the shower was leaking. Time to tear out the tile and replace it. And since I was going to have the wall open, it made sense to replace the mixer and diverter valve. While going through Amazon, I saw this and checked it out. Twice as much as replacing the plumbing with like stuff, but so, so worth it. Be aware you have to have access to the plumbing wall, and a minimum 14" wide, 29" tall access panel. My valve and head are in a wall that opens into the toilet closet, so I didn't have a problem, but if your shower has the valve in wall shared by a hallway, bedroom, or (shudder) outside wall, you'll want to think twice before getting this. Installation is easy and very simple - I did it DIY, and I'm not a plumber. The battery backup is a bit of a rip-off (seriously, Moen? $65 for a plastic battery case and cable?). I'd still do it again. Updated after complete installation and testing: As the other reviewer noted, my phone and the controller wouldn't connect. My phone is an Android, and I'm running the (currently beta) latest revision of the software, Android O, although I also tried it when I was running the latest release, Android N. I tried several times to get it to connect, but it just wasn't happening. So I went a different way. My work phone is an iPhone, which immediately found the controller and went through the installation without a hitch. The controller was added to my Moen account, so it also showed up on my Android phone, and now it's all working the way it's supposed to. My guess - without knowing anything about how the Moen app is written - they're trying to do something the default security of Android won't allow, because it's a suspicious connection. So it can't connect and we just time out. Updated again: It stopped working with my Android phone, consistently shows the controller is offline, so another call to Moen support. I'm used to being an "early adopter", so problems that don't make things unusable but can be fixed aren't a show-stopper for me. I have to say they're being very attentive to this. They've called me back a couple of times to try different approaches and get more information. In the mean time, it works from the controller, and I'm still happy with it. I've found the shower temp I like (105F) and it alerts me when my 10 minute shower time is up.

A must for the perfect bathroom renovation
When paired with the automatic valve this is a game changerโฆ.. we just did a bathroom renovation and could not be happier with this product. It is a bit expensive but it results in a very clean look. It works perfectly to adjust and hold a personalized water temperature. I have my perfect setting and my wife has herโs. Installation was a breeze. Very clean look without all the extra valves and knobs in a usual system.

Works great when it works but has died 8 times in two months
Updated review: - This product is simply not ready for primetime and you can tell that it's a water company trying it's hand at tech. The water part works well. The tech part, that it requires a 2.4 Ghz network, that it's homekit integration isn't documented, that the website doesn't work well, that it didn't register our account properly, that it resets itself randomly all just point to a company out of it's depth when it comes to making long-term workable app & tech products. Unfortunately, this product is fabulous when it works and a lovely luxury, but it just doesn't work. We originally had two problems: 1) The app is really hard to configure and get working - it's like working with apps from 10 years ago. 2) Biggest problem is that the unit keeps losing power which means you can't have a shower until you open up a wall panel, unplug, replug, and reboot. What a PITA. After working with tech support (leave it unplugged for 5 minutes (which if you have the battery backup means going into the shower encloser and fumbling with cables), and make sure it's on your wifi (which has to use 2.4Ghz - and that's inconsistent - see Reddit) and which took 37 attempts to finally work we did get it connected to the server and it worked great for about 30 minutes. After which the app lost our credentials and couldn't find them again. This has never happened to me across the hundreds of product and other accounts I've used in my life. Stay away, this product just isn't ready for prime time. It's a product from a water company that thinks adding a screen and an app is easy stuff. It isn't and they failed.

Good system, please read for caveats.
I had the previous Moen controller which I liked very much. Moen decided to update and no longer supports the older product after ten years. If you have a system you are pretty much forced to buy a totally new system. Nothing is interchangeable. So I bit the bullet and shell out about $1800. Now the new system works fine. Only two user options opposed to four on the old, but more than a couple using a master bath would be rare. The controls are easy to learn. The new controller is horizontal while the old was vertical. Well the holes for mounting the earlier model are not covered by the new model. Are you supposed to tear out your old tile to accommodate the new controller? Anyway, I love the luxury of a multiple shower arrangement so I'll suffer through the inconveniences but be aware that corporate decisions often cause issues for the consumer. Well experienced DIYers could install this, but I recommend an experienced plumber. My valve is in a crawl space, so I chose the easy way. I understand RandD costs, but $1800 for this system just seems high. Bottom line, if you enjoy a multiple shower head system this is a good system. Just go in informed.

The most AWESOME shower controller EVER!
We recently had our bathrooms remodeled and decided to make our shower a little bit smarter. After doing some research we decided on the Moen U Shower Smart Home Connected 2 zone controller. This controller takes the place of your shower valve and eliminates the need to stand at the shower with your hand in a cold stream of water checking to see if it is warm enough yet. With the Moen controller you can either push the power button to turn it on and set it to the temp you would like, push one of the two preset buttons to have it turn on to a setting you have already stored or, use Alexa or Google home to turn it on with your voice. Once the shower reaches the desired temp it will automatically pause the water flow until you get into the shower. When you get into the shower just push the start button and you have water that is already warm. Changing the temp of the shower is as easy as pushing a button. The unit comes in either a two or four zone configuration. We went with the two zone model and have a shower head and a handheld wand. There are buttons on the unit that allow you to select either or both zones at the same time. Another nice feature is that the control panel shows the time as well as the temp. It is a heavy and robust feeling unit that is waterproof and can be installed anywhere you would like in the shower. In fact, you don't even have to have it in the shower at all (why someone would do that I have no idea). Installation is pretty straight forward and and can be carried out by a homeowner if you have basic wiring and plumbing skills. There is a valve outlet box that goes between wall studs and does require power from an electrical outlet. Your plumbing is simply routed through this box and out to the appropriate zones. Moen does say that you should have an access panel to the valve outlet box so that can be a deciding factor as to where the box goes. As for the control panel that you see, it can go anywhere up to 30 feet from the box in the wall. This is dictated by the data cable that connects the valve outlet box to the control panel. Once the system is installed there is an app from Moen that you can download if you want the wifi connectivity. This will allow you the control the shower from your phone as well as add extra presets. You can also change settings for the controller like wether the panel remains illuminated when not in use, and which icons are displayed on the screen. While I have read a couple of reviews where people said that they had a lot of trouble connecting the unit to their wifi network, I didn't have any problems. Simply follow the prompts in the app and you should be fine.

Replaced my old Moen Aqualisa IODigital System with this U Controller & Moen S3104 Valve 4-Outlet
I had the Old Moen System that came with my house. No Idea on the Age, but One of my Ports stopped working. I replaced that System with this System. One Important Note, the App does not like any Caps in your email address. Took me a while to figure that one out. The App is a little Flakey on Android and Sometimes Crashes when Trying to Change Presets or Settings and/or Saving, but 2nd Time around usually gets it. I also have mine working with Alexa and that Works Pretty well so you can Say "Alexa, Ask Moen to Start Preset 1" Controls Work Well. Press 1 of the 4 Shower Head Selection Buttons to Toggle on or off. Press the Up Down Keys to Adjust Temp. If you Press and Hold The 1 or 2 Key it will save to that Preset. Next Time you shower you can just press 1 or 2 and it will be just as you left it. You can of course start from Alexa or the Phone App & you can adjust settings on the Phone App as well. Note that the Controller at the End of the Video is something separate for my Sauna Info on the Companion Moen S3104 Valve 4-Outlet I used PEX & Sharkbite Connectors. The Top hooked up to the 1/2 Inch Sharkbite Connectors that were on my Old System as it was installed with Pex for the Old System as the 4 Valves on top Do Not Line up Exactly the Same way. This New System is much shorter From Top to Bottom so you will have Room to Retrofit if they had Not used Pex, you'll just need a lot more Pex & Connectors. The Bottom is 3/4

You won't regret this purchase
This system is amazing. You won't regret this purchase. It's extremely easy to install and operate. I love that I can program my shower, that I can see the water temperature in real time, and that I can operate it from my phone. As for controlling it from your phone please be advised that turning the temperature down on your loved ones while they are showering is absolutely possible for added... fun. In all seriousness, the look and feel of my shower is amazing with just one controller for 4 different systems, and not having to worry about buying and installing 4 different valves and trim kits is a no brainer. I can say that the only issue we've had is not wanting to get out of the shower. Simply amazing!

Should have done this sooner.
Have been intrigued by this for awhile, and finally decided to retrofit our standard shower. The installation is fairly intensive, and took a full day. (homeowner not a plumber) Our wall cavity was too crowded for installation behind the shower, so it was necessary to install in the basement directly under the shower. Since this was a retrofit, it required fabrication of a small adapter plate to cover the old valve opening and provide a mounting space for the new controller. Setup was a breeze once it was all installed, and the performance is really great. The pushbutton his and hers presets are a really nice feature, as is the constant temp no matter where the water heater is in it's cycle. Hope it has good longevity as we really like the performance and operation.

Difficult Setup
I have installed this device in my shower and it has been working well for a few months. My only negative comment is on the setup of this device. The instructions which come with it are poor. After fussing with it for a while I got it set up and working fine. One of the features which proved useful was the ability to blank the screen after inactivity. This was needed since the bathroom adjoins the bedroom and the device was bright enough to bother us while sleeping. At one point I changed the internet router and lost connection. I ended up having to reset the device and starting the setup over since the device appears to have no other way of doing this. The reset instructions were found online but not easily. The instructions for doing this are not included with the written direction. In summary the device works very well once setup. I push a button and it works.
