Go by the measurements: size small/medium from todler 9.5- to junior 2, foot size in inches 6inch to 8.125inchsize large/xlarge - junir 2.5 - 7.5, foot size in inches 8.25 inch to 9.92inch

Q: What size Is small medium versus medium large?

My son wears a 3 and the small/med were fine. The back strap is adjustable.

Q: What is the total lengh of the fin? I wonder if they would fit nicely in a suitcase for travel. Thank you.

I don't have easy access to exact length, but i packed them in a medium size suitcase for a trip to Hawaii, no problem.

Q: My son wears a youth size 4-4.5 in sneakers. Would he be a s/m or l/xl in these flippers?

Our son wears a youth 13 and we ordered the S/M but also ordered fin socks . He has the fins as tight as the straps in the back will go with the socks on ( to prevent blisters ) we ordered the larger size because his feet grow SOO fast, we wanted to make sure they lasted. Hope this helps. These are great fins!
