Not free, but close enough and works
Genuine Vornado product. Works as intended and fits as expected. No notes other than I feel like these should be practically free.

Good quality and well fitting. Branded / OEM product and last about a month.
These are well-made and well-fitting filters / diffusing wicks for our Vornado-brand EVDC300 evaporative energy-saving humidifier.Stiff when first installed, but if the fit is too tight, they can be lightly moistened on the sides to ease fitting them into the holder. Don't wet the entire filter or it may not be rigid enough to properly fit in the holder.Be sure to seat the filter / wick firmly at the bottom of the humidifier for maximum efficiency and output. Thee should be noThe filters last about a month with daily use. The best advantage of an evaporative humidifier using this kind of wick is that it does not emit white dust or whatever else is in the water as is the case with a misting humidifier. Likewise, evaporative humidifiers use much less electricity than steam or warm mist humidifiers. On the con side, these wicking filters trap water minerals and some of the dust in the air passing through them. As such, they will slowly degrade in output, last about a month, and will need to be replaced.Be sure to keep your humidifier clean and use a bacteriostat in your water reservoir to help keep the air free from bacteria. Ideally, the humidifier should be cleaned every one - two weeks with or without a wick change.Distilled water (especially if it's available at low or no cost) is best to use for maximum filter life, followed by soft water and then hard water. Our water is moderately hard and we use a bacteriostat and softening treatment (both available for purchase on Amazon) in the humidifier water reservoir.A fair value when offered at about $10 at the time of our review for a two-pack.That's about $5 each.

as good as the original on EVDC300 (UPDATED)
Update Jan2023: After going through 6 packs of these in the last 3 years, I can report they have been consistent. LIfespan is a little better than other reviews indicate (6-8 weeks for me) but that will vary by how mineral-heavy your water is and how much evaporation is going on.Other than not being able to buy bigger packs, my biggest complaint is the last few have a fairly strong odor that spreads through the house during use. Doesn't fade for 1-2 weeks.--Just as good as the original, used on the Vornado EVDC300.After 2 weeks constant use (25% through its expected lifespan), it's still working like a champ, evaporating a bit more than a 1-gallon tank of water daily. The material did not need any pre-soaking or anything, instantly absorbed water. Make sure to install it properly (tight to the outside of the unit, pressed firmly to the bottom of the basin), and it should be wet to the touch within moments of the bottom tray being filled with water.Considering the short life-span, these could be a little cheaper or sold in larger sets (especially since my other unit, a EVDC500 uses 2 at a time). But I'm pleased with the rapid, natural evaporation, aided by these humidifiers' extremely low power draw. Worth it for trying to keep a comfortable environment during the dog days of winter.

Excellent Price for Original brand Replacement Filters
I’ve been using my two Vornado Model EVDC505 evaporative whole room humidifiers for almost 3 months now. I didn’t realize how quickly these filters can change color & become tainted based upon bacteria in your house and how often you run them. The humidifiers have been a godsend in the winter months, allowing me to be comfortable with both heat or my gas fireplace burning throughout the winter. I purchased my humidifiers through a big box discount club store, and thankfully that store included one complete replacement set for each humidifier. When I looked at the humidifier filters after about six weeks of use, I noticed that while they were still damp, they had a reddish tint in them, which indicated bacterial growth. I immediately replaced both sets of wicks with the free wicks included. This model offers a low energy saving mode, which allows them to run intermittently 24 hrs a day with an evaporative mist. So I don’t get the moisture and condensation building up on windows and doors that other humidifiers seem to cause in my house. I also no longer get the constant popping and cracking sounds in my wooden doors that I typically hear all winter long. It’s really annoying at night when you’re trying to sleep to, constantly hear popping of my solid wood doors throughout the house. I was able to purchase the Vornado brand replacement filters (1” filters MD1-0034BB-A) through Amazon at a much cheaper price than any place else for them listed; almost 50% cheaper! They were almost the same price as offbrand filters and when reading reviews about the evaporative mist humidifiers, many owners recommended against buying offbrand replacement wicks for the Vornado humidifiers. The price was so cheap, I bought enough sets to get me through this winter, as well as having a spare set to use next winter as soon as I’m ready to set up my humidifiers. They are easy to insert after cleaning out your humidifier and draining old, stale water. I’ve even read that you can dry out these wicks after soaking them with a little bleach and fresh water. But they were so inexpensive on Amazon that, honestly, it’s not worth the effort to go to that trouble. The wicks are fairly delicate and begin to shred easily if you try to rinse them out or ring them out to roughly. And just as a test, I noticed it takes days for the wicks to completely try out.

OFFICIAL Vornado replacement wick. DO NOT use humidifiers with hard water
Are you using a Vornado humidifier model that requires MD1-0034 replacement wicks? These are exactly that. You get two wicks in one box, and most Vornado units use TWO wicks at a time so this is really a "one-use" not a "two-use" box set.Humidifiers do NOT use filters. This is NOT a filter. So don't call it a "filter" please. It is a WICK. It's ONLY job is to soak up water from the tank, move the water up by capillary physics until it's wet all the way near the top, and then let the fan blow air across it so it can let the water that's soaked in the wick evaporate into the air, which is what humidifies the room. Also, if you have hard water (lots of calcium carbonate or pH above 7.8) then you will need a WATER SOFTENER for your house FIRST. Without that, these wicks AND your entire humidifier unit will get caked up and clogged with "scale" deposits, which are dried calcium carbonate and similar salts from your water source. Your humidifier will also blow these salts out into the room, and you'll get white "chalk" dust settling on EVERYTHING IN YOUR HOUSE from it, unless you treat your water with a softener before putting it in the humidifier. Trust me, it's gross. You don't want that to happen. I also recommend in this case buy some "humidifier cleaner fish" which are floating plastic "toys" filled with special chemicals that lower the pH and absorb carbonate salts so that it won't cake on your equipment here's the link to the ones that I've been using at home: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DDKQFGZV?ref=ppx_pop_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Tanks can seep after a while or if bumped and west floor damaging it bad design
Well at first I thought wow what a wonderful product quiet operation and then I bought a second one and found out the motor on the first one was running loud and then from December to February I’ve gone through three sets of filters well that wasn’t the total issue now the two of them that I have Botton both even though I know what I’m doing and I know how to operate them and I know how to make sure it’s seated correctly the bottom reservoir is gravity fed and apparently the tanks are doing some thing that every time I go to check it it has leaked and it leaked through my rug onto the wood under the floor in my bedroom and ruined my wood floor what kind of product is made so that the gravity feeding can allow it to spill onto a floor why isn’t this deep enough of a reservoir so the water can be held and never overflow into the consumers floor damaging it. It’s apparent that it’s not friendly thankfully have no animals that could bump it cuz it just sets together insecurely and literally had oozed water destroying my floor whe. I first received it and seen recipes about this I thought All the people damage the tank or they did something incorrectly well that is not the case apparently in the design of this apparently doesn’t last long and even though it’s so energy-efficient and so quiet how good is it when it does this to your floor damaging your entire home this way
