It stinking works!
I've always hated pop up shower valves, and should never have installed on on a shower retro. I've spent time polishing water spots off of plates in spigots to try to make them seal, all to no avail. This valve installed in something under a minute. NO LEAKS in operation. I could not be more pleased. My hope is that hard deposits will not build up and it will continue to seal. Since it's in the guest bath, it rarely gets used, so I'll update this in time. It is not USA made, but dang, we sent all our manufacturing to China. AMERICAN Standard is made in Mexico! Get over it - it's an incredible value.

Water Saver
The product came with very little instructions. I have done some plumbing so I did install it . This unit requires a 1/2 copper pipe coming from the wall. This unit slips over the pipe and tightens down with a screw on the side. I am very impressed with the amount of water I have saved because this unit does not allow water to escape the spout when you take a shower.

No leaking when diverting to shower! Visible screw for right-hand controls.
This diverter really works! Easy to install and good nickel color match to our existing mixing valve. The 4 stars is due to the visible mounting screw (if you have right-hand controls), why not put that on the bottom? I'll check back in 6 months to verify that it's still working. It does go back to the tub if there's a decrease in pressure, i.e. if you have issues when someone flushes a toilet. We don't have that problem, just saying that you might...

I could not figure out why my water bill was consistently high. So I replaced my shower heads to handheld ones that uses air and suppose to use less water. I learned from my daughter that water was still running out of tub spout while shower head was on and had always done that. It is my guest bathroom and I have never had to use it. So I went to Lowes and bought a delta replacement all plastic with a chrome finish. It still did it. So I remove the diverter and put it on the old spout and it still allowed a lot of water to pass through while the shower head was on. I found this one on Amazon and bought it based on the recommendations for use by property managers and hotel maintenance. It is all metal and $10.00 less than the Delta replacement from Lowes. It is a slip on instead of a screw on and was shorter than the original. So I had a friend to come with an acetalyine torch and remove the excess pipe from the wall and convert to a slip on. This only took him a few minutes to do. The spout attaches by a screw for a snug fit to the pipe coming out of the wall. The diverter has a spring mechanism that was not a feature to the Delta original and replacement. Tools needed was a torch to make conversion, pliers to remove pipe extension, a screw driver and mildew resistant caulk. The whole installation took less than 15 minutes. Not a drop of water could be seen escaping while the shower head was engaged. After shower was turned off some water dripped from the spout which was explained as drainage from the shower head. It trickled to a complete stop. 100 % satisfied with the quality in material, finished look and purposeful design. Well worth the cost in converting over to this type of spout for water conservation.
