I agree with the 18" posted earlier. This chair is not comfortable for someone with short legs, unless you have some sort of foot rest.

I'm writing this while sitting in this WONDERFUL chair. I don't know the answer. My hubby is also 250lbs plus & also loves this chair, with the armrests. We've had it a couple years now, gets lots of use and have had no problems.
