Medical Student
I am in love with this model for muscular anatomy. I am an MD medical student, and It's good for after you have already learned the anatomy on a cadaver as a refresher. It would not be good as a primary study aid. There are no nerves present on this model and that would have made it fantastic. There are tons of fine details on it though. One example being the sartorius muscle being attached after you put all of the the other leg muscles in place. It actually has the fibula and tibia being separate bones which I was not expecting in such a cheap model. Since I know the common peroneal nerve wraps around it, it makes it easy to see the relationship between compression at this point and wearing a cast. My 2 year old is also currently in love with it, she says its hers. I have yet to let her play with it since it would be a horrible choking hazard and I'm sure she would lose all of the pieces. Also of not is that this is not the most easy thing to put together. It fell apart 4 or 5 times as I was initially putting it together. I eventually figured out you have to assemble the head, arm, and leg and then snap the plastic torso around it. I enjoyed it though and it was a rather therapeutic use of time at the end of a long day of studying. I love that many of the muscle layers come apart and then back together. Tonigt's project will probably be going through the muscles with my netters to try to remember some of the anterior posterior realationships, I think it will be good for that and for using while going through uworld questions for muscle and artery damage. As I have the money I am planning on slowly acquiring the others in this series, and I hope they are good for my intentions as well. Short list: Pros: Price Muscle and bone details very detailed and no immediate anatomical flaws were noted by me Cons: no nerves difficult to assemble the first time small Not very detailed hands and feet in terms of muscles, bones, and arteries, but it would not work on this size of a model Overall a good price for my money and good for general concepts, but not for initially learning the anatomy. It is a good study aid for sitting on your desk though while going through an anatomical atlas. This would be good for middle school and highschoolers as well, elementary students might get frustrated with assembling it, and would probably pull it apart easily.

This is great for the price but it will not stay assembled, it just keep popping loose popping loose!
This is great for the price but it will not stay assembled it pops loose and is very time consuming reattaching it so I now am gluing one section at a time and after it hardens in place repeating the process part after part, I like the way this product looks so at the price I paid for it due to labor if I SOLD IT ASSEMBLED TO A FRIEND I WOULD DOUBLE THE PRICE! Note: This product should be sold in two versions one totally assembled for people like me who want it just for art and as is for those who want to tear it down and continue to reassemble it for the purpose of learning.I rated it OK because of the additional time and labor invested by me in perfecting it as a solid body assembled art piece.

Wonderful detail, not difficult to piece together, but don't knock it over!
I was hesitant to purchase this model due to the reviews concerning the durability of the product. But there is no other 3D model of the human musculature system on Amazon at this price point. So, I took a chance and ordered it. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised when it arrived! First off, it is NOT difficult to assemble. I think the reviews that complained about the difficulty ordered the product thinking that it would be straightforward to assemble. The key point to keep in mind is that this is marketed as a 3-dimensional children's PUZZLE. It says so right on the box! So the fact that it will take you longer than a few seconds to put it together is intentional by the toy creators. So I approached the model from the perspective of solving a puzzle, and I was prepared for it to be difficult based on the reviews here. It took me probably 10-15 minutes to piece together. I would not say that it is difficult (a lot of the model is pre-assembled), but you do have to think a little bit to put certain parts together, as some parts need to attach in a certain order in order for the pieces to snap together (such as the clear torso and clear leg). How they attach together isn't obvious at first, but if you just think about it for a few minutes you'll get ideas and figure it out. It's fun to figure out how to put it together! Just don't go into it trying to solve it as fast as you can, because then you will become frustrated! Some parts that could be "difficult" are certain pieces you need to hold together with one hand carefully while attaching another piece with the other hand. I'm thinking of the muscular shoulder/arm piece. I wouldn't call it difficult but you need to have some hand-eye coordination to put it together. Just trust yourself and have confidence you can do it! Lastly, I wanted to talk about the durability, which a lot of people complained about. It's possible the manufacturer changed things, but once assembled, I found it was pretty secure and was not about to "fall apart" just from being handled, as other reviews mentioned. On the contrary, I really enjoy handling it and didn't feel like it would fall apart at all. But, I actually unintentionally knocked the completely assembled model off my desk, which fell onto my hardwood floor, probably around 5 times. It was fine the first 2 or 3 times. The fourth or so time, the clear shin part that attaches to the clear foot unfortunately broke off. It didn't just come apart from the foot, the plastic actually split off, leaving the part that connects to the foot inside the base of the foot. I only need this model to use as a personal reference, so I just taped it back together and it's good as new, far as I'm concerned. So I think it is of pretty good durability as long as you're not careless like I am and go dropping it repeatedly on hard floors. Oh, and if it does fall off a desk, the pieces WILL come apart and you'll have to put it back together. Which I had to do several times, so by the third or so time I was able to put the model back together pretty quickly. I don't think this is the best gift for any child - I imagine the puzzle aspect would frustrated most younger kids. But an older kid with an interest in human anatomy/physiology, and who has good hand-eye coordination (someone who likes to make models, or played with legos, or paints - someone who enjoys doing and building things with their hands, and solving problems) - I think that sort of younger person would enjoy it. As for me, I bought it just to have on hand at my desk as a quick anatomy reference while I draw. Of course it's not 100% medically accurate, but at this price it's wonderful for someone to learn the basics. I'm impressed with the amount of detail in the musculature they fit into this guy. It's great being able to hold and see from all angles the muscles I previously only found 2d images of through Google. I'm very happy I took the chance and bought this. :)

Good detail, not so sturdy
I was prepared for the small size of this model after reading the description and reviews. It has amazing detail for the price, and that is what I wanted. It was not so easy to put together, but not so hard either. It just seems like it would fairly easily come apart, and it did today when a student handled it (and not roughly). I am considering gluing some of it together to make it more durable, but of course then I lose some of the advantage of taking it apart. Even with the issue of durability, it was still a great bargain for the price--the detail is unsurpassed for the price! I have ordered other models from this company now that I have seen this one, and so far they are good. I rated this 4 stars due to the slight fragility, but I would recommend this to anyone interested in a budget model of human muscles.

This is a waste of money
I am taking a anatomy class this semester and thought this muscle man would help me with my studies. It was the biggest waste of 20$ I have ever spent. It is extremely small, and not detailed at all. So no educational help what so ever, unless you want to know the basics like the arm is higher the leg. Even as a toy this is an awful product, not only is it hard to piece together, even when you do manage to put the pieces together- it falls apart immediately. This would frusterate anyone- let alone a child. AVOID THIS PRODUCT, i am gravely disappointed.

Perfect to create your own study lab at hone
It's perfect! I am studying anatomy and it is just what I need! I can't afford to buy the arm and leg muscle so this is perfect for studying alone at home. I have a 1 year old and can't get away. This works great! I don't find the need to fully assemble the model so it doesn't bother me that it falls apart easily. I just needed to see the major things and point them out such as Teres major, teres minor, and all other muscles. I took pictures so you can see that you can use this as an anatomy lab at home and work at your own pace. There's a skeletal side as well and you can point out everything you need to know with a toothpick and clay if needed. It's small but it gets the job done! I'm ready for an "A"!

The model is actually pretty small in comparison to the one in school but ...
The muscle man is really helping me study. It was kinda tricky putting it together bc the pieces didn't want to say together but I figured it out. The model is actually pretty small in comparison to the one in school but it works just as well. It does show everything that the larger scale one shows, and comes w/a guide to help study but if u have a lab manual from school, use that instead.. it's good for the nursing or medical student on a budget..

Nice but not sturdy
Make sure to have superglue on hand when putting this together. Like other reviewers have mentioned, it is frustrating to assemble and falls apart with the slightest touch or movement. Overall nice, and great gift for anybody interest in anatomy or medicine.

Cheaply made; Requires glue to keep it from falling apart
Liitle bit disappointed with the cheap quality of the pieces that do not fit together well and the fact that it needs to be glued to stay together. I do not recommend buying this product unless you are happy glueing it.

I like it a lot
I like it a lot, only thing is it does not stick together tightly. It falls apart if you use and turn it to show to the kids etc. Also, I wish you had a bigger size of the exact same model. It would be a perfect classroom teaching aid. Thank you, Best, Kynsai Jarain
