I used this on a few test spots on my truck. Even after hand washing the surface was still somewhat gritty. After only a few passes the paint is glass smooth. In other words, when I do detail my entire truck it’s not going to be an all day event trying to get this to work. After words I recommend using a spray on ceramic coating or waxing to keep the surface like new. This is a great product and can’t wait to see my entire truck done which will save me hundreds having a detail shop for pretty much the same thing.

The Good: This Speed Clay is faster then the clay bar; it cut about half the time to do my truck. I did not drop it at all due to the well formed grip that fits great in the hand. You can work a larger area in long back and forth strokes. I first tried it with soapy water to lubricate the area but that was too messy with the excess water dripping all over the place. I then used Mothers Detail Spray to lubricate the area and it worked great. I would occasionally dip it into soapy water to wash it off and squeeze some of the water off between a towel. The Bad: some spots or tars specks would not be removed sometimes. I used last year’s old clay bar to remove these spots. However, I did drop the old clay bar and had to trash it. This product works well but the old clay bar was needed occasionally to remove really stubborn contaminants. Conclusion: I liked using the Speed Clay 2.0 because it was faster and less effort to clay my whole truck and I will use it again. However, there were tight areas that I couldn’t clay really well and had to rely on the old clay bar product. I would recommend this product. It would be nice to have a more flexible and thinner version to get into the tight and curvy areas.

I recently used the Mothers 17240 Speed Clay 2.0 on my car, and I have to say, it’s an absolute game-changer! The clay bar is so easy to use, and it quickly removed all the contaminants from my car’s paint. I was amazed at how smooth and shiny the surface looked after just one use. It’s also much faster than traditional clay bars, and it saved me a lot of time, which is always a plus. The design makes it super easy to hold, and the clay didn’t crumble or leave any residue behind. I paired it with the Mothers clay lube, which worked perfectly to keep the surface lubricated during the process.

Just remember that even though it's not clay, you still need to keep it CLEAN and lubricated (car wash soap/water is perfect). That means rinsing obsessively. ------------ Edit: After reading some of the negative reviews I felt a need to update this and add information. I think a lot of the problems noted by others are due to a couple of things. One, the claims made by the manufacturer are a little over-ambitious. Secondly, improper use and and misguided expectations from consumers. First, these do not always work as well as the real clay for removing heavier contaminants. These are meant to be used on relatively clean surfaces in order to maintain them. These are not good for trying to scrape off years of neglect. Use these if you care about your car and want to KEEP it clean. This is a product to use maybe every second or third hand wash to keep the surfaces clean. Use soap and water (CLEAN) for lubricant and rise very frequently. A very light touch is the right amount of pressure. If you find yourself scrubbing with this, you are doing it wrong. The device should glide freely with very light pressure. KEEP MOVING, don't stop (same as with regular clay). If you do it right and maintain your vehicles, this thing will save you a lot of money and effort over time since it can be re-used over and over, and it's fast. These are not a replacement for clay, they are simply a much more convenient and economical way to remove light contaminants for maintenance purposes. Not to mention, if you drop it, unlike clay, it can be simply rinsed off. If clay hits the ground, it has to go straight into the garbage (if you value your scratch-free clear coat).

This is so much better than typical clay products. Makes claying your vehicle super easy.

I like to clay my cars: SAID NO ONE EVER! But, let's be honest. Claying a car is a necessary step to achieve great results prior to polishing and waxing (or applying a sealant). I have a clay bar collection, so I don't know why I even bought this, other than I hate claying my cars, and I had two cars that needed to be cleaned. Let me tell you, I will be claying my cars prior to every sealant application after using this Speed Clay. I mixed up some ONR Wash and Wax in a small handheld pump sprayer and used that as a lubricant. You can honestly clay your car in about 1/4 of the time as a traditional clay bar. Another big plus for me was that my hand didn't get tired or cramped up from having a death grip on my clay bar (yes I have dropped a clay bar before and had to toss it out, now I'm paranoid). If you drop this Speed Clay, just rinse it off. The handle on this is pretty ergonomic, and is easy to grip. I clayed two cars in one day and my hand wasn't sore. This clay bar did not mar or scratch my paint surface. This Speed Clay even removed some lingering rail dust "industrial contaminates" that were still present even after being treated with a chemical iron remover. I think that this product (and the ones like it) spell the end of traditional clay bars for the average enthusiast. I hate claying my cars, but I love them to look great, and this product delivered that.

I've used this thing a few times and it definitely is a sizeable improvement over traditional clay. Way less frustrating, way less effort, and no kneading of clay required. It doesn't conform to the shape of what you're working on basically at all though - which is a major drawback and maybe why you should consider a clay towel instead. It doesn't work perfectly for truly wrecked paint jobs but it does work fairly well on relatively clean stuff. The thing I need to say here is that if you're storing this - it needs to be in a temperature controlled environment where you won't see it getting above 80-90F. I store a lot of my auto-detailing stuff outside exposed to the sun but in weather sealed containers. (No moisture gets in or out - just gets warm due to the sun) The issue is that this thing literally melts and adheres to the plastic it came in. When I was done with it - I put it back in the package and when I went to get it out the next time... It was practically glued to the plastic. Taking it out tore some of the foam backing and made it a little deformed. It still works - kinda - but I'm looking for a replacement product and I won't be going back to this. I think clay towels or something else would probably be preferable over this. I've used a clay pad on my polisher and actually found that pretty great - but that's only good for *big* and flat surfaces as it has the same issue as this... can't conform to anything.

This thing is insanely easy to use and leaves your paint feeling absolutely brand new. I am VERY impressed at the results and I would recommend this to every single car lover.

Ho voluto provare questo pad di decontaminazione ...beh e più veloce di sicuro della clay bar...ma sulle tracce di catrame o residui di resina la vecchia clay bar non la batte nessuno....questo pad e ottimo se non si vuole lucidare l auto dopo la contaminazione...poiché non lascia le classiche righe della clay...insomma buono da avere ma non indispensabile.. prezzo caro

Contaminación en pintura en un color arena perlado. Al principio no supe cómo usarlo, luego ví que se humedecia un poco la superficie con un atomizador. Funciona excelentemente, dejando un acabado superior y sin trazas de brisa y otros contaminantes. Vale la pena.
