Very pleased with this gadget. It can certainly pick up cables and studs. As a word of warning, in my experience with ALL these types of tools, errors can occur so you need to use common sense as well. ie Do not go drilling into a wall directly above or beside a plug socket etc.

From researching online, this seems to be one of the best stud finders on the market - many of them don't work particularly well, but this one does. Have successfully used it for finding metal studs. The electricity detection feature also seems to work well.

Poor. Whilst it can detect metal it’s unreliable as a stud wall detector. Seems to have a mind of its own. For the price I expected something that would do the job. Arrived without any box, maybe a returned unit?

I wanted to hang shelves in my study which was converted from a bathroom after the bathroom moved. I know the 15mm copper (hot and cold) location as they were rerooted to the kitchen. Couple feet away is electrical wiring to a double plug socket. My original Zircon Multiscanner A200 which is 3 years old couldnt detect them behind a cm or two plaster so I bought this same model one and again couldnt detect the copper pipes or wiring. Bought new batteries same result. I bought a Bosch detector Truvo 2nd which is half the price and it was able to detect the copper pipe and wiring. Dont waste your money. Even deepscan was useless.

Best stud scanner with deep scan. I like the large display. Not recommended for tight spaces as it's bulky compared to other stud scanners.

I seem to go through stud finders about every 5 years or so. They just seem to stop working well after some time. I usually buy the cheaper models, so I guess I should expect that. This Zircon is a step up from what I usually buy. There are a few things I like about this model (A200) and a few minor things I don't. The things I like are the accuracy when it finds a stud and the red light on center. The ability to show electrical is great. This is a new feature for me. One great feature is the battery indicator. I have found that stud finders are quite particular about having a fully charged strong battery in them. In the cheaper models you don’t know the battery is weakening and you start having problems or difficulties. Usually, a fresh strong battery is the solution. This one is no different. I installed a “new” battery but right away it showed it was low and the device has some operational issues. I found another new battery that was strong, and the device worked fine. Seeing the charge level of the battery is a great feature.The things I don't like are the size.... it is kind of large in my hand. Also, it is a little touchy with regard to finding studs, sometimes it reads falsely, you really need to go over a suspected stud a few times to make sure you have a stud. This is no different than others I have used.Also, this has a metal search, great for finding pipes and such.Overall, this is a good device for the money. I wish it was a little smaller and didn’t get false reading like it does from time to time but these are minor issues.Positives:• Nice large screen• Full featured, electrical, stud, metal scan• Battery monitor when low• Clear lighted indication of center of stud• Reasonable costNegatives:• Rather large size in hand• Can get false reading sometimes.Honestly this is a good device. I think it could be made a little better, perhaps a rechargeable built in lithium battery instead of these 9 volts and a smaller more ergonomic design but again, this is a solid device that I expect years of service from, and my dislikes are pretty minor.Recommended 5 stars.This is my honest review of this item; I hope this it was helpful in your buying decision process.

It gets good reviews so I thought I was worth the extra $ however it often indicates a stud where there is none, even with multiple passes in multiple directions
