This coil was ordered as a spare to use with our yet to be installed points type distributor.

Good value and works fine
I ordered this for my 1957 Cadillac when I thought the blaster coil I have on it now had failed. It turned out that I had some broken wires so while the car ran and drove just fine with this replacement coil installed, it was not necessary and I removed it to return to the blaster coil. I kept this one as spare since you never know.

It looks like a ignition coil but not good inside.
I tested this ignition coil, and it performed very poorly, indicating that it would not allow a vehicle to run smoothly. It is an ignition coil, but not a good one internally. I do not recommend it.

This coil works just fine for a stock or mild build. Just in case anyone has the same question that a lot of people ask, the Spectra Premium C-624 Ignition Coil does not need an external ballast resistor to function properly. I hooked up 12 V and ground, connected the wires from the distributor (electronic conversion) and it lit off the first time I cranked the starter over.
