You can calculate this for yourself. The scale is HO which is 1/87. The wheels in question are 36" and the distance between the wheel flanges is 4 feet. 8 and 1/2 inches. This should give you a close approximation.

Q: Do these wheels have one side insulated to allow for pickup installation?

Yes. Although I would recommend intermountain brand if you can find them. Their axle length fits almost all rail car truck frames much better, run smoothly and have the one side insulated as well. If you can find them on line look for the 100 axle packs. They usually run about $89 to $95 dollars and ship free if you ca catch the right deal. That’s less than $1.00 per axle and very high quality. Good luck hope you find what you need.

The statement that this converts "up to 3 cars" is based on cars with 2 axle trucks, which would require 4 axles per car. These wheelsets are also frequently used on older style passenger cars that have 3 axle trucks, which would require 6 axles per car, thus would only convert 2 cars.

I measured 1.009 inches, so I would call it one inch. That was tip-to-tip.
