A great, durable, softside spinner with loads of room!
Very well-designed suitcase! The 360 degree spinner wheels roll great and with relative ease even over thick carpet. The telescopic handle seems sturdy (not wobbly) and the zips work smoothly. Since the spinner wheels are housed "concavely" and the suitcase corners are reinforced, this creates two advantages:1) it protects the wheels more; allowing them to roll back a bit into its housing rather than sticking straight out, thus risking damage in transit or on the plane cargo.and2) it keeps the suitcase within its actual actual dimensions ( appx 26 inches/ 66 cm, externally, and 25 inches/ 63.5 cm, internally/packing dimension). With many other spinners you need to add an additional 2.5 to 3 inches (appx 6 to 7 cm) to the actual exterior dimensions. This can become a real headache since many airlines have size restrictions for check-in bags and can charge you with oversize luggage if it does not comply with their dimensions.I got this in the twilight blue which is a really nice, elegant, midnight blue. The ballistic nylon makes it more durable and I like that it includes an extra 'pocket handle' (not quite a proper handle) at the bottom of the suitcase, making it easier to grab from a baggage carousel.Did I mention how roomy it is inside? If you're travelling for a lengthier period of time, this is a really good size. The only consideration is that at 11 pounds/ 4.9 kg, the Silhouette XV might not be the lightest of the 'lightweight' suitcases, but it is still fairly light. Besides, what it lacks in weight in more than makes up for in durability and mobility.

Best bag I've had yet
I finally decided to retire my dear old 15 year old Samsonite carry-on (still using it for storage). After shopping many brands, I decided (somewhat to my surprise) to order this one. I'm not a fan of spinners generally. This bag has exceeded my expectations in a big way. Though it has a smaller footprint overall than my old Samsonite bag, I was able to fit more clothes into it. The dress shirts and slacks I packed arrived unwrinkled and wearable. I carried an extra pair of shoes and enough socks, underwear, and electronics (chargers etc) to last a week--and was able to fit the bag into the overheard of the ERJ-175 I took from Houston to New York. It was pouring upon arrival and the water beaded up and slid off. Zippers are arranged correctly for ease of use--on my old bag, they were similar and confusing. This design differentiates between the zippers by size and location, so it's easier to quickly find the compartment for which you're looking. The detachable plastic bag for the small-sized toiletries was large enough for me (I carry lots). This is a quantum leap over my old bag; nicely done, Samsonite! (as always, ordered from Amazon, got a better price, and had it delivered 2nd day).

Samsonite Silhouette Xv Softside Large Glider.
We used this Large Glider and the Medium Glider for a family of 4 to Paris this recent April 2017. The lower center of gravity and the wheel combination made this luggage a pleasure to move around the airport and hotel. We have traditional Samsonite, iT brand, and Pegasus branded luggage, and this form factor was nice. It didn't tip over like our other traditional upright luggage does when he would push it around. The luggage is relatively light weight but only by a small amount. The materials feel plush. There is a wet bag snap on accessory. There is even a hangar accessory in the top cover compartment for things like suits. I like the wider grip hand which is multi height adjustable, and the cushion grip where your fingers land. We tend to pack heavy for our trips as we will be gone usually between 5 days to 2 weeks and this large size fits the bill for us. We purchased a 2nd large after our Paris trip for our upcoming trips to San Diego, extended Hawaii trip, and almost month long trip for the Philippines. As such we have 2 large gliders, 1 medium glider, and 2 international carry-on of the old style/previous generation glider. Love this luggage!

A business travelers perspective
Great bag! overall I love the wheels, handle, size and pockets. The only con is the size of the handle they increased it from a standard 6" wide handle to an 8" wide handle which makes it easier to maneuver but restricts the options for brief cases or laptop backpacks which can be used with this bag. As a frequent traveler I am always taking the laptop bag on and off my luggage. luckily, my ebags slim professional backpack can fit with a little coaxing, annoying but not a show stopper.Wheels- the dual wheels are a must the spherical spinner aspects allows this thing to glide along. My only gripe is the 7.5 inch depth makes this somewhat unstable if not loaded with enough weight.Handle- it is a very sturdy handle easily moving up and down effortlessly. I know this sounds terrible but if you have only owned bags under 100 dollars you get used to the wiggle and play in a luggage handle, this sucker does not wiggle at all. again the only con is the handle is too wide for a lot of brief cases and laptop bags so measure your personal item to make sure it can fit over the handle.Size- this is 21x13x7.8 including wheels which makes it perfect for almost every airline as a carry-on. Here is a list of all carry on (useful link removed by amazon). Now size does matter especially for those of us without airline status. If you are last to board the chances you will get your luggage screened for size greatly increases. Especially if they are running out of room. Now you say don't they just gate check our bag well yes most of the time unless your bag looks too big in general at which they will make you put it in the baggage sizer. If you bag is too big to fit with wheels you may have to pay bag check fees since it does not qualify as a carry-on in the first place.Pockets- I really hate not having front pockets for my luggage. I really love the look of all aluminum or polycarbonate but without those front pockets traveling is just a little more annoying. For instance you are starving and have an hour to kill in a lay over. You grab a coffee and food to eat on the plane (you do not want to hear about plane food or how many times airlines actually clean their coffee pots) after buying a few magazines too you realize your plane is boarding, NOW. You grab your wallet, coffee, food and magazines and run to the gate. Your ticket is on your iphone so now you have to pull out your iphone and pull up your ticket while the gate agent is staring at you. without those pockets you have to hold the food bag in your mouth, the magazine under your arm, coffee in one hand while operating your iphone with the other. Just take my word for it the outside pockets come in handy.Overall I would rate this bag a 4.5 out of 5. I do not know about longevity but I will update if anything major breaks. I own bags in every size from 17" - 30" and from B&R to Delsey
