The stories center around the Clampetts encounters with the big city and its corrupt politics, unfamiliar fashions, indoor plumbing, and all other trappings of modern life. It's easy to see why The Beverly Hillbillies was one of CBS' longest running situation comedies and the number one show in the country for the first 2 years of its nine-year stint.
