Gatorskins, my new go-to!
I recently picked up a new State Core-Line to ride around. I got very tired of asking my family or friends for rides, as I don't have a car or a license. The bicycle came with these supposedly great Kenda gumwall tires, meant for flexible roads and commutes. This was not my experience.Riding around in autumn for me means thorns littering the roads and sidewalks and us cyclists get old of that pretty quick. I went through around 2-3 tubes per week, with the closest bike shop being 34 miles away. I had to come up with something. At first, it was a pain to get these on, they even broke one of my Bell tire levers. (Though, I will say that was my fault. I was being impatient and put on unnecessary pressure.) This problem fixes itself a couple rides after the initial install. They get nice and used to the shape of your rims. I've had them on for about a month now - I have yet to encounter a single issue. I haven't had a single flat with these, and it isn't a pain to ride around in the winter time at all.One fair warning: these bad boys do get pretty slick when wet. They'll definitely drop you if you dare challenge those pesky yellow, studded things or any deadly sewer grates. I read about the sidewall being pretty fragile on these things, but I haven't had an issue yet. Be cautious, put them on and you'll love every second of them.

Great Tires
I love the GatorSkin tires. They are tough on the road, avoiding many flats. Great for riding on. They are a bit hard to get on the rims, but worth it.

Better against thorns.
I ride easily 45 mile after work on the city street and these tires have been better at resisting punctures from bull thorns and broken glass than other Continental models. The amount of flats I would get dropped by 75%. Sure it not 100% you can still get a flat if it’s a pointy enough piece of glass, small sheet metal fragment or spiky seed. But I feel more confident that I will not have to stop and fix a flat every day.Are there tricky issues about the tire, sure getting is seated on the rim can be a pain especially when it new or cold out. The best thing to do when they are new to make seating easier is to leave them out in the sun or warm room. Once mounted take some Windex and spray around the tire and rim and slowly inflate, the Windex helps the tire expand evenly around the rim and reduces the flat spots.

Puncture protection
Now on 2nd & 3rd set- (1 race & 1 commuter bike). Decent mileage from the 1st set used, only 1 flat occurrence. No punctures on the race bike which were installed last year. When just installed on the commuter bike, got a flat in the 1st 10 miles out. In both flat cases- appeared to be from a very tiny wire/staple. Could not see impact point on the tire on the most recent case, but definitely went thru the tire edge & not the tread area- from where the tiny pinhole was in the tube. After installing the 1st set on the commuter a couple of years back- flats dropped off completely with the 1 exception noted above.
