AGPTEK 16GB USB C MP3 Player, A55S 2 in 1 Type-C & USB Stick Music Player

This is an excellent mp3 music player for use with wired headphones. The sound quality is great and it has several preset EQ settings. It has shuffle or alphabetical play modes. I use the high quality Eveready AAA Lithium battery that lasts for months of use and I keep a spare one in my carry on bag that with keep it's charge for over 10 years . If your mp3 library has all the correct ID tags information (Title, Author, Genre, Album) it will be easy to find the tune you are looking for PLUS the info will display on the screen. Don't get hung up on the small 8GB internal memory. The internal memory is USB 2.0 at best and might be USB 1.0. Write speeds are very slow, but playback is fine. I use a high quality 64GB micro SD card that makes adding music fast and easy. The controls take some time getting used to, but once you master them it's not a problem. The beauty of this player is that it is small and lightweight. The downside is that it's small and the control buttons have multiple functions. Can't have it both ways. If you like heavy and large, then carry your iPad with you to play music. The bottom line is take the time to learn the menu and you'll enjoy this player. I've tried many wireless Bluetooth headphones and they don't have the sound quality as the wired units. If you can live with wires then you'll like this mp3 player.

Amazon knows I don't do reviews🙂 however I had to try an help. I have purchased 8 of these Mp3 plyrs for personal use and gifts. I'm a Total music lover. They are the best i've found. I use mine with a case and without. The convenience is what i needed. When purchasing rechargeable durable batteries or not, allows the Mp3 plyr to run for 48 hours straight, the Mp3 plyr doesnt get warm or over heated. Now if you have the Mp3 plyr next to a heated sourse like in your shirt or pants pockets it will feel a little warm. So if u have music files in different formats this Mp3 plyr accommodates. Compatible with, Mac OS, Windows Xp, 7, 8, 10 or higher systems. When loading, plug directly into 2.0 or 3.0 usb, create a folder (or not) drag & drop. My folders holds over 1100 tracks (depending on the trks Mb's), for a more true sound from the device of course 256Mb or larger. The quality of sound depend on your choice, Normal, Rock, Pop, Jazz, or DBB. No adjustments for actual pitch (treble or mid range). As I stated your choice of the above mentioned. If u want hands free set your choices, no clip-on and tuck it. Fat 32 formated & that can be changed! Plenty of volume, which can be adjusted an preventable sound/volume lock! The latest one i purchased has a slightly different operating response to it, requires press an 2-5sec pause to get use to its functions. Manual an video very handy for those not use to this type of device. My entire household uses these Mp3 plyrs to this day an will continue until obsolete😔. This device plugs into any auxiliary thats standard. The sound quality is 😎 great for cars, boats, homes, dorms, at bbq's impromptu getogethers. I have not tried audibles on them, just music. Ear buds or headphones or desktop spkrs, laptops an some tabs, complements this device. Fm radio, voice mode, recordings, music, settings. Those are kinda standard for these types of Mp3 plyrs. Four stars because this does what it should, although through a minimalist and somewhat arcane menu system, seems well-made, provides for a large and swappable storage capacity, and runs on a AAA battery. One star off because the instructions are so poor that I almost returned the two units I'd bought, as I couldn't figure out how to deal with individual folders of songs. At the price the manual should be much better. Eventually I got it and have written up what I learned, below. ================================ These are navigation plus some usage instructions for the AGPTEK U3 8GB portable audio player. For functions not described, refer to the manual if you got one. If not, see 'manualslib.com' and search for "Agptek-U3". These instructions refer to the control pad keys as 'Menu' aka 'M', 'Right-Arrow' aka RA, 'Left-Arrow' aka LA, 'Play-Pause' aka 'PP', and 'Return / Volume' aka 'R/V'. To "press" means press & release. Sometimes "press & hold" is explicitly required. Wherever RA (Right-Arrow) is noted, LA will usually do the same thing but in the reverse direction. Note that pressing buttons while music is playing is not completely reliable. Sometimes a quick press will be ignored, and if you hold too long you'll get a different function from what you intended. It is assumed that you have already connected the player to your PC and copied several folders of music into the player's main 8GB memory. This storage will appear as as USB drive called "AGPTEK-U3" in Windows Explorer and will appear as 'Local folder' on the player. If you have a microSD card in the player, that storage will appear in Windows Explorer simply as "USB Drive" with no special name; on the player it will show up as 'Card folder'. When playing tracks in the local folder, the small icon to the left of the bitrate and equalizer icons will look like an integrated circuit chip; when playing from the card folder it will look like a microSD card. Like most "MP3" players, this one defaults to showing music tracks by their tags rather than their filenames - even though most people got tired of tagging all their files years ago. Fortunately, if you delete any and all tags, the player will revert to listing tracks by their filenames. It does make some odd errors in this but is mostly OK. ----------- Turn the player On; this should start you at the 'Home' menu showing 'Select' at top right and usually at the first choice which is 'Music' with a speaker icon showing. Generally you can press & hold M for this menu, though if you release too quickly it may get stuck on the volume control slider; in that case press R/V to recover and then just keep trying. RA and LA will step through other choices which are 'Recordings', 'Voice Mode', 'FM Radio', and 'Setting'. The 'Setting' dialogs will let you set the repeat mode mentioned below. With 'Music' selected, press PP. The first music track in the first folder will begin playing. Press and hold RA or LA to scan (fast-play) through this music track. Press PP to stop playback then RA or LA to step to the next track in this folder, and then through all tracks in all folders. This mode treats the entire set of tracks as one long list, with no distinction between folders. If you press RA or LA while a track is playing it will (somewhat unresponsively) cycle through the tracks according to the current repeat mode. If "Repeat Folder" was set (shows a small 'D' in the repeat mode indicator next to the battery icon) then the cycling will only be through the current folder. If "Repeat Normal" was set (shows a small 'N') then the cycling will be through all tracks in all folders. So this works just as if you had let the music continue playing. ------- To choose and work within individual folders, you need either the "Music" submenu (press M while music is stopped) or the "setting" submenu (press M while music is playing). If either takes you to the volume control slider, press R/V to return, and try again. The "Music" submenu has 'Home' (the main menu mentioned above); 'Local folder'; 'Card folder'; 'Delete file'; 'Delete all'; and 'Exit'. The "setting" submenu has 'Home'; 'Local folder'; 'Repeat'; 'Equalizer'; 'Variable Speed Playback'; 'Replay mode'; and 'Exit'. You can step through these these wtih RA. On either submenu, step to 'Local folder' or 'Card folder' and press PP to enter the folder tree mode of operation. This opens the first of the music folders in either local or card storage. You will see "\" at the top and below that the music tracks in this folder. Use RA to step through these tracks and PP to play any of them. Stepping will follow the Repeat mode that has been set, as described above. Select the "\" at the top of this track list and press PP to see the player's entire list of folders, including "ROOT" (which just goes back to the submenu), "System Volume Information" (shows empty), and the music folders you loaded.

Got this USB music player for listening to music while out on my bike. It has a lot going for it with a fm radio ,voice recorder, and mp3 music file player. It has a digital screen with lots of information on it but pretty small so you got to have good vision to see everything in detail. I won’t be looking at the screen while I’m on bike rides so know where the next and volume button are is more important for me. It has ok sound but lacks in the quality of sound. Not much base and can get distorted if you get too high on the volume. They could add lossless to it and a belt clip and it could be so much better. Overall it’s not a terrible player but needs improvement. It will play every music file I throw at it so it’s a good music file converter to lots of different music files out there. If the sound was better and is had a belt clip I would give it 5 stars.

I am one of those people (like many of you) in a desperate quest to find a good AAA battery mp3 player. In my opinion, the best ones ever made were all by Coby, but none of the Cobys are still manufactured. Starting in 2009, I’ve bought 8 Coby players over the years, and only one of them has ever stopped working. (I own so many in part because I like to have different audiobooks going at the same time, because I use a few of them for sleeping music, and because I wanted some extra in case I never get to buy a quality AAA battery mp3 player again.) In case anyone has no idea why AAA battery mp3 players are superior to all other choices, this is because: 1. eneloop nimh rechargeable batteries are incredibly cheap per usage and last longer than most of us will. (The amazon brand imitations of eneloops are great too.) 2. if you carry an extra AAA battery with you, then you basically have unlimited power because you can easily change batteries and never have to stop listening. Having an extra AAA battery for a AAA mp3 player makes the player feel like it is solar powered--I *never* have to stop listening. 3. nimh batteries DO NOT BLOW UP OR CATCH FIRE. All lithium batteries are capable of doing this, but nimh can’t. For me this is a deal breaker for all non-AAA players. 4. nimh batteries can sit in the car all day in the Texas Summer heat and be fine. I’ve got eneloops from 2009 that have spent 8 straight Summers baking in the car like potatoes, and I still can’t tell the old ones from the new ones. Lithium batteries are not as tough. 5. AAA batteries can be replaced, so an AAA player could last decades. Lately, I tried out three AAA battery mp3 players: 1) the AGPtEK U3 8GB mp3 player 2) the 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive LCD Mini MP3 Music Player w FM Radio Voice Recorder (the kind that you can find trivial variations of everywhere on Amazon, and that always has that keychain ring sticking out of a cylinder on the end) 3) and the Naxa MP3 Player with 4GB Built-in Flash Memory, LCD Display, PLL Digital FM Radio and Built-In USB Plug Adapter (that I bought at Frys). All three of these products count as the worst three products that I have purchased in the last 5 years, in any category. The Naxa player occasionally fails to read mp3 files from the early 2000s (that every other mp3 player ever made can easily play), is impossible to use without looking at it (bad for driving), and is very cheap in quality. It’s constant changing of backlight colors is the most stupid idea ever thought up by an engineer, and you can’t stop it from doing this. The one with the keychain ring arrived broken-in-advance (this is a famous specialty of the makers of that product--if it arrives working properly it means you have a fairy godmother or something). Mine does not rewind, ever, and that is seriously annoying. This product WAS the worst product that I ever bought in the last 5 years, until the AGPtEK. The AGPtEK seems well made, with higher build quality than most, but it has a design flaw that is absolutely maddening--it’s volume buttons and forward/back buttons are all attached on the same wheel, and are way to sensitive/imprecise for that setup. This means that you cannot change volume without risking suddenly skipping forward or back one track. No matter how carefully you try, even if you are doing nothing else and staring right at the player, it is very easy to accidentally skip tracks forward or back when you try to change the volume. Every single time you try to change the volume by one tick, you have about a 1 in 6 chance of changing tracks by mistake. (And that is only if you are staring at the player and concentrating. If you are driving you have at least a 1 in 3 chance of skipping tracks by mistake.) This problem will ruin your life, especially if you listen while driving and have to change volumes depending on how fast you are now going. I hope that AGPtEK will make another model with separate buttons for volume control. AGPtEK seems to make good products, and they may be the only company capable and willing to make a good AAA battery mp3 player. If so, I will happily buy it and add on to this review to tell everyone of the improvement. If anyone finds a good AAA battery mp3 player, please comment on this review to let me know. Thank to you all who posted your reviews, which had a huge impact on me selecting to purchase 2 of these mp3 players. After hearing Apple would discontinue producing ipods, I thought what one large company does, others follow. I needed to replace my COBY purchased in 2009. I agree with many of the positive responses, where people were looking for an mp3 player that (1) uses recharging batteries and (2) used a USB plug. (After all, it isn’t difficult to have spare batteries available and why use an additional chord. Extra note: Yes, my cell phone can play music but I’d prefer not to use my expensive cell phone for a simple task, wearing out both the machine and battery.) I don’t want fancy screens, which can use more power. I just want to simply listen to my selected music. When doing my homework for this product, there weren’t a lot of choices. I’ve only opened up one box for now. Easily was able to copy the music from my old mp3 to the new one. I used BOSE ear buds and thought the sound was just as good (or many even a little better) then my old COBY, using the same ear buds. I don’t have big hands so using the arrows was not difficult. Design-wise I would’ve liked to not have to “select” volume instead of a separate button which controls volume, but I understand based on the design, why that was done. Not a flaw, just an adjustment in use. In honestly, I have not tried the other features. Nice to have but basically, I just like to listen to music I’ve selected. So far I just haven’t had the opportunity to use this product as much as I normally would. As long as it remains working, I would recommend this product.

This product is very nice in alot of ways I wanted a very small portable thing that would hold all my music, and this delivers! It can hold up to 2000 songs, which unless your putting an audio book on there (which is possible), storage shouldnt be an issue It supports multiple folders for songs, repeating specific songs, repeating folders, and shuffle It has specific sound settings for music, so you can boost bass, or boost vocals, all that standard stuff You can adjust screen brightness, screen dim timer, almost everything I briefly tried the radio function, managed to get a pretty decent connection inside of a basement, so outside it must get great reception My biggest complaint would just be UI The controls are a bit sticky, if you will, they take a bit of time to register an input And tied to the UI, there are no dedicated volume buttons, but rather somewhere in the music menu that you have to navigate to in order to change volume That wouldnt be so bad, if it werent for the fact the UI wasnt 'sticky' The seller did want to know ways to improve the product, theres not alot really, but a few major ones Raised directional pad, so you can easily tell where it is Separate volume buttons Texturing on the buttons, to differentiate them in the dark, or in your pocket A more ergonomic design, so it feels more comfortable holding in your hand A separate visible display for time and battery life And some form of clip to attach to pocketless clothes, or to secure earbuds on Aside from better buttons, most of those arent essential, and more quality of life things Looking at the other reviews, most of these issues are fixed in its other version amazon.com/AGPtEK-R2-8GB-Clip-MP3-Player-Digital-Music-Player-for-Jogging-Running-Gym-Supports-up-to-64GB-Black/dp/B01M7055KP/ref=cm_cr_dp_d_rvw_txt?ie=UTF8 Which contains a rechargeable battery as well

After my 3rd iPod Classic battery stopped charging, I refused to pay another $60 to get another one. I was so sick of getting a device that would have been perfectly fine if I could replace the battery, but, of course, Apple makes the task nearly impossible. So, I set about finding an mp3 player I could use when I went running that would take a normal, REPLACEABLE, battery. This is the one! I put in a AA battery, and navigated to settings. It took me a minute or two to figure out how to set the time, and about 2 more minutes to sync music (with Media Monkey on Windows 10) and play the songs. Those complaining that the interface is difficult to learn, probably had their VCR blinking 12:00 too. Don't get me wrong, it's not great, but it's what you would expect from a device that is so small. The sound is amazing from this little guy! Since I just want to turn it on/off (press and hold play/pause), play mp3s (press play), skip and go back (arrows), and shuffle (set mode to random--works contrary to another reviewer's comment), I don't care about the voice recording, replay (looping of audio), or the FM radio. I'm not going to mess with the variable speed playback, etc. either. So, I can't speak to those features if you are looking for those things. But the basics meet my needs. I'm done with devices without replaceable batteries. EDIT: Removing one star, as the 'random' mode is not 'shuffle.' It will randomly pick from all songs, not from ones not yet played. If you have 5 songs, each time you have a 20% chance of replaying the same song upon hitting next. If 50 songs, a 2% chance. 07.31.2019 Update: Removing more stars. The thing finally died. The player has big problems. I had to remove the battery after every use, otherwise the device would drain the battery over a day or so. Also the tab on the battery door broke so the door was easily lost. The cap was lost. The navigation button stopped working. The sound stopped coming out of one ear. I bought the Tomameri Portable MP3/MP4 Player to replace it: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S82H7SL). It is much much better.

Me sorprendió para bien, para ser un mp3 a pilas esta muy modernizado, incluso te dice la hora. Tengo su versión antigua y las diferencias son enormes, el Agptek A55PL es más cómodo de usar y los botones son fáciles de apretar, la batería va bien depende de cuantas horas escuches, me encanta que pueda pasar música desde mi móvil conectándolo a él copiar pegar y listo! lo último importante es que si quieres escuchar música en carpetas no vayas a "Música", ve a la carpeta de "Archivos" y cuando te metas ve al "Customize Playist" ahí se encuentra las carpetas más otras 3 carpetas incluidas del mp3 por si quieres meter cosas ahí. Si deseas un mp3 a pilas para enfrentar apagones o hacer un viaje tipo mochilero lo recomiendo totalmente.

Oh wow. I really like this. No waiting for recharge just swap out the battery. I wanted something that could survive not being near a charger and this is it. I get about 14 hours continuous use with a well known gold topped battery which is great especially as I like to listen to audio books. The screen, whilst small, is perfectly serviceable for what it needs to do and the sound is great. Now, this player has no internal storage so it is all on a micro SD card. This may sound like a negative, but it means there’s no messing about picking which storage location to use, so actually this decision makes this little gem even better. All in all, if you want an MP3 player that isn’t reliant on an internal battery that will eventually die, then this is it. One point to note is that the folder view is by far the easiest to use but it lists in the order the files are put onto the SD card, so a little forethought when loading files will go a long way.

INCREASE VOLUME SOUND..VERY LESS..USER FUNCTION IS HARD..

I purchased this to use on a long multi-day cycling race that wouldn't have regular access to power. My intention was to load a multi-part audiobook on and listen to it as i rode - replacing the AAA battery as needed. Unfortunately, it's not a great interface for navigating files or playing in file name order. This would be perfect for music, and any single file audiobooks. I have no real regrets, just a better understanding of it's limitations and how I'll use it in the future. I've stuck some velcro onto the back of the stick as a method of attaching to things. It's held up well and is great for just playing a shuffled playlist of music.
