It Works-- It Brought My Monthly Cycle Back!
I'm using this maca powder for its well known effects at hormone regulation. I decided on this version because some of the maca is "raw" due to the current raw food fad but the reality is that there are many foods, herbs and tubers in the world that are more bioavailable to your body upon cooking and other forms of processing. Maca is one of those. You're really not supposed to take it raw, so beware of that. This version is gelatinized which fits the bill and I'm always on the look out for the best prices, it is a bit pricey but it's a competitive cost. So how's it working for me? Is it indeed helping get my system in order? It must be! My period had disappeared and now it's back and thoroughly normal (it was irregular and unpleasant at one time). This maca is organic, seems to be of high quality and like I said I'm seeing a visible result and it happened very rapidly. I just hope to keep getting even more benefits over time. -- I actually use it in a recipe for a tonic with a bunch of other herbs that are all designed to help you get your energy back. If you want to use that recipe yourself and hear the whole spiel about how the ingredients work go to Youtube and search for "David Wolfe energy elixir." Wolfe is an interesting guy who has popularized the idea of "superfoods," the raw diet that I don't subscribe to (although I do juice daily and can say that helps a lot) and he searches the world for foods that promote your longevity. Longevity promotion is health promotion so I'm all for that. I especially would like quality of life and increased vitality. So far I have been enjoying the elixir but this maca is the first product in it that I can honestly say I'm positive HAS given me an effect I can actually point to. I've also used it on its own in milk with raw honey, slightly warmed and that gave it a creamy taste so that's another option that works fine too. It's pretty cool when one of your desperate health schemes actually pays off so I wholeheartedly recommend this product and hope it gives you great benefits too.

My fave Maca- so yummy!!
I LOVE this maca powder. It is very finely ground and dissolves fairly easily with no clumping (of course no maca dissolves completely). I can stir it in with a spoon. It also tastes delicious, kind of malty and butterscotchy, and not bitter at all like some maca I have tried. I think this is the best maca I have tried, and while I am not a maca connosiuer, I have tried at least a half a dozen brands, including a couple with proprietary blends. It gives me energy and I can tell it improves my mood (subtly) and has a positive impact on my hormones by enhancing libido, easing PMS, etc. I am in my early 30's with 3 little kids, so I can use extra energy and a little more mojo sometimes! However, some people I know say that the libido effect is so pronounced that they don't like to give it to their husbands- lol :) This is also a really good deal for gelatinized maca. That is the only kind I buy. Not only is it several times more potent, it is easy to digest. I do eat a paleo/primal diet pretty strictly, and I noticed when I bought a packet of raw maca (unwittingly) that I had terrible stomach cramps afterwards. Never with this. I put this in my version of bulletproof coffee: 4 oz coffee, 2 Tbsp good butter, 2 Tbsp MCT (XCT) oil, 1 scoop Collagen peptides, 1 scoop Goat whey, 1 teaspoon Maca, 1 teaspoon raw cacao, 1 teaspoon reishi powder. I whiz it in my breville frother but you can put it in a blender too. It comes out super frothy and very delicious! This is my breakfast and it powers me through the morning. Sometimes I do pu-erh tea instead of coffee. Maca is also very delicious in smoothies and homemade lara bars.

I know my Maca, and this is good quality...
I've been using Maca on and off for over five years now and have tried a few brands. With prices seeming to have risen since the last time I bought a batch, which was usually by the kilogram (2.2lbs) from my usual online supplier, I turned to Amazon to see if I could get a better deal. Terrasoul had a great price per pound, and good reviews. Granted, I've only tried a few brands previously, but when learning about Maca, I researched it a lot, and learned about its "constituent profile", its tonic/adaptogen-like effects, etc. And within 3-5 days of taking a heaping tsp/day I can tell whether the quality is good enough to affect my endocrine system enough to notice. Well, Terrasoul's got the goods. More energy, without feeling jittery, more endurance for my runs (I'm a long distance runner), and noticeable elevation of libido. For those who are familiar with Chinese Tonic Herbal Medicine, I would classify Maca as similar in effects to American Ginseng, as it boosts foundational "chi", but seems to have a Yin nature to it. There are primarily three sub varieties of Maca, black, red, and tan/cream colored. Each with somewhat slightly differing advantages to its benefits. I've read in the question and answer section for this product, that they use a blend of all three, so I'd consider it wide spectrum, as all three are combined into one product. I like that. I find it funny some people complaining about the taste. I guess whether something tastes good or not is pretty subjective, but I will say that Terrasoul's product smells and tastes like Maca should; butterscotch-ish, maybe bit of cocoa, and as one of my best friends described the smell upon his first time ever encountering maca, "Like whatever makes graham crackers smell and taste like graham crackers." It mixes well w/many things, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee, almond milk, etc, etc. There are plenty of great recipes online. Lastly, no matter what brand you choose, make sure the Maca is gelatinized, as its a cruciferious vegetable, and when taken in purely raw form can cause intestinal distress as well as problems with, hormone, and thyroid function (especially in females), as opposed to the gelatinized, which helps regulate/optimize the endocrine system, thyroid function, and makes it easier for the body to absorb and utilize correctly. It's actually more potent in this form as well, so you get more for your money.

Worth a shot
No reviews so let me be the first. First off, this stuff smells and tastes awful. I often read people describing the taste as being akin to butterscotch- sure, if butterscotch were kicked around in musty dirt and fertilizer. So why 4 stars? Since taking it the past few days I feel better than I have in quite awhile. From the first use I had more energy (though adding omega 3s had also recently brought my energy up). Not that I want to lace up and run a 5k but since I was going through a period of low energy sothe pick me up was very noticeable. I sleep pretty soundly where I am normally a very light sleeper. its just been a few days so Im not seeing any change in libido as of yet. An unexpected but welcome effect also is a reduction in my appetite and my sugar cravings. I am hoping its hormone regulating properties will do something for my insulin resistance but that may be reaching. If anything ultra awesome happens in that respect I will update this review. Update: Its been a few weeks. I take the maca a couple of times a week now as opposed to everyday. I have noticed better skin including dark eye circles disappearing, lower glucose readings (though also taking gymnema-maca seems to give it a boost in efficacy), slight increase in libido, no increase in breast /hip size which is ok by me, and Ive noticed the unwanted body hair growth has slowed nearly to a stop. (Less tweezing.) It has not affected my cycle. Still reduced appetite and nearly no sugar cravings which resulted in losing a couple inches in the middle. Ive found the taste has become more tolerable over time. I take it with coffee.

Truly awesome superfood. This is shocking to me because I experienced great benefitis within days. So glad I stumbled on it.
Ok. I am amazed at this product. I actually just flippantly added this product while I was buying Raw Cacao because it was a suggested accompaniment based on other user purchases. I have only been taking it for a few days and noticed a shocking difference described below (guys, the following is a ladies-related topic, so feel free to skip.) I don't normally get this personal but it is the only way I can describe its affects. Ever since I experienced pregnancy, my lady flow (which I never call it this, but I am trying to be as conservative and proper as possible being that this is a public review) changed dramatically, especially in the last couple of years. It had become so incredibly great that I wondered if something is wrong. Coincidentally, I happened to be taking this along with my Cacao just before that time. I am shocked. My lady flow has significantly reduced, I mean significantly as in back to normal!!! Wh-a-a-t?? So, I researched Maca more deeply. Normally, I promise you, I usually do this first before ordering. Anyway, it turns out that this is a wonderful superfood for both men and women. My husband said his energy was increased a whole lot It is extremely rich with nutrients and naturally balances hormones, and helps the body adapt and fight better when sickness is present in the body. These are only a few of the many benefits, but I am truly blown away that after only taking a teaspoon a day for a few days, that I could experience this result. It looks like Cacao and Maca will be part of our daily routine. The benefits are too incredible to pass up. (Cacao quickly improves circulation through the body, and especially to the spine and brain.) Some folks are making various shakes. So far, I am starting out very simple. Cacao, Maca, Vanilla Almond Milk and Honey.(The blender will render a smoother drink, although I do hand mix it first.) Note: Avoid dairy. It blocks some of the benefits especially in Cacao. That's why we are using almond milk.

Helps with thyroid
I used maca in the past but then gave it up even though I thought it was a tasty addition to my morning smoothie. Then I had thyroid surgery & things were ok until 18 months after the surgery when I started a new relationship & lost my job. My stress response sucked but I didn't want to go on a synthroid because I still have half a thyroid & it still functions (in the way a 7th grader deals with a crush). I immediately gained 8 pounds & could feel my thyroid killing me, so I did a ton of research & took matters into my own hands. I ordered an herbal thyroid support, Sam-e, DHEA, 5-HTP, maca & matcha to replace my morning coffee. I also upped my calcium intake. It's the combination of these that is giving me my energy back. This maca is not gritty & tastes great. I stir it into yogurt. I also increased my workouts & started daily brain exercises. I've consistently done yoga & meditation too. After my first day trying the maca, I slept for a few hours & woke up refreshed. Usually after you sleep with a dysfunctional thyroid you wake up tired. I really think maca helps. It's hard to isolate any one thing but I think it provides a clean energy support. I feel especially calm after taking it, a relaxed outlook. If you're having serious thyroid issues & trying to avoid a synthroid, you're probably going to need several supplements, and they'll probably work but you need to trial & error the perfect combination. Or you could just cut to the chase & get on a synthroid. I've almost gotten there. But I'll tell you, it's an amazing feeling when your doctor confirms that your lifestyle choices are healing your body from the inside. I don't have to go back to my endocrinologist for 5 years.

I absolutely love this product
I absolutely love this product! I have been using this now for several months and have experienced nothing but positive benefits. I have had no digestion discomfort, as can sometimes be associated with maca root powder. The reason for that being, this is gelatinized or "cooked" maca powder. There are many great raw food products out there on the markets today that are wonderful for healthy living; raw maca is not one of them. If you spend sometime researching maca powder, (as is recommended for any health supplement), you will find that maca is a food that our body is not meant to ingest in its raw form. So, if you have tried other maca powders or supplements in the past with discomfort or disappointment, I would encourage you to give this one a try instead. It shipped fast, arrived clean and ready to use. I prefer the plain maca powder to maca supplements on the market because it offers me more diversity in what I can use it with, and it allows me to know exactly what I am putting in my body. I love mixing it in with my smoothies or into my tea. Now to get personal.. I have suffered from severe menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding since puberty and this, a long with a well thought out diet, is the only thing that has given me any sustainable relief. I have never had my hormones measured while using this, so I cannot give official evidence to support that hormone regulation is what this product does. All I know for sure is that after I started using this product I have not needed to use any of my prescribed pain management medications, I have a revitalized energy while using it, and a more consistently measured weight. (I do not use this as a weight management supplement, I have just noticed balanced weight as a side effect of use). All in all I am exceptionally happy with this product. I will also say that I have tried many other things that have not worked for me that do work for other people. Unfortunately, there is not a one size fits all nutrition regimen for every body, because every body is just simply different. I hope if you try this, that it works as well for your purposes as it did for mine.

Great super food!
Maca, traditionally is cooked. It has been found this makes it easier for the body to absorb. Gelatinizing maca cooks it in a precise way that maximizes the absorption and minimized nutrition loss. I'm pretty crafty so I looked into gelatinizing raw maca myself, since raw maca is cheaper. I decided it wouldn't be worth the trouble. There is quite a bit of info on the internet on why gelatinized maca is superior. Cooking it also burns off 30% of useless moisture that only rots it, so you are actually getting more maca for your money, not less, so even if you cooked it yourself, it still would be cheaper to get it pre-cooked. I have had maca from Nutivia before. Terrasoul was slightly cheaper, so I went with this brand this time, and I found it to be of equal quality: from the packaging, to the taste, to the consistency. Maca is fairly bitter and is best mixed with other foods such as fruit & protein smoothies. It blends particularly well with banana smoothies in my opinion. It also goes well with chocolate. By itself, I find it hard to consume. You can google for recipes online. Maca is considered a super food, and has natural adaptogens, which by leveling hormones, can act as a libido enhancer for both men and woman. It is also high in antioxidants and minerals. There is lots of research that can be googled about the health benefits of maca online so there's not need for me to cover that here. Hope that helps!
