This cutting mat is perfect for smaller cuts, it is very durable, it moves around exactly as it should making it very easy to use for intricate cuts and circles.

Love that it has non slip mat on bottom does not move when your rotating mat. The locking mechanism is easy to use and get too. 12 x 12 is perfect size not to big this will be easier to cut smaller pieces.

I'm currently working on a project that involves precise cutting of 9 inch square blocks into 3x3 mini patches. Needless to say, this requires absolute symmetry in the cutting. Attempting to do this on a fixed cutting mat would be nearly impossible. By using this tool, the large squares can be placed on the turn table and the pieces remain in a stable position. Then with each 3 inch strip I cut, the turn table is rotated for the next strip, and so on until all four strips have been cut.My concern at the outset was the small size of the surface. A 9 inch square requires almost the entire surface and I was worried that making the same cut along the same grid lines would cause deep cuts to appear. All of the conventional cutting mats claim to be self healing, as does this one. But most of us have discovered that a stationary mat will eventually become scarred and unable to heal itself. I've not found this to be true of this tool. It feels like the surface is a little bit harder than a conventional cutting mat, and therefore more resistant to damage.I recommend this tool for any situation in which symmetrical grid cuts are required.
