Keeps the wife happy
So, I'm one of those guys that gets to wax his wife (yep she is spoiled like that; lol) and rather than get another one of those home waxing kits as well as trying to save some money - salon waxing is way overpriced in my opinion - I did some research into sugaring and that led me to the Shobha Sugaring Kit. I ordered it along with some extra denim strips as I didn't have any spare jeans laying around to cut up. Plus my daughter decided that if Dad was going to pamper Mom then he should pamper Daughter too (rolled my eyes at that point).Anyways the kit came on time, the box was only slightly damaged from the shipping (nothing a bit of tape couldn't fix) but Shobha forgot my extra denim strips. Sent off an email to them about it and they were brilliant about getting a set off to me asap along with some rosewater wipes. Now that is top quality customer service. As for the product itself - no complaints whatsoever. I heated the sugar in the microwave for 20 seconds and then stirred it up and after applying some powder, began the application with the sugar. Warm enough to spread reasonably easy but not warm enough to burn. Applied the denim (lighter side against the skin), rubbed over it three times and then removed in a single motion. Awesome, no hair breaks and it left the skin nice and smooth with little to no 'pinking' - depending on the area of the leg. Definitely not like when removing a wax strip. I asked if it hurt more or less or felt the same - below the knee it hurt less, a lot less and above the knee the pain was a little less to about the same as waxing. No doubt different people will feel different amounts of pain. I did have to reheat the sugar after doing 1 full leg (10 seconds) and I guess that is the only negative thing I can say about it. Might ask Shobha if I can use a baby food/bottle warmer to keep it at a constant temp since you can't use a wax can warmer - unless I can think of a workaround. 1 tub of the was is enough to do a pair of legs (Daughter has to wait until I get another tub (evil grin).Needless to say wife felt very pampered, was very happy and teased my daughter about it. Now daughter is nagging me to pamper her (sigh).

Sugar Wax
I was expecting more from this product. its okay. I have been making my own sugar wax at home. I wanted to try to but its about the same thing. I went back making my own instead of buying them all the time.

Waste of money.
I am so irritated that I spent money on this. First of all there is supposed to be a distinction between waxing and sugaring. The point of sugaring is that the wax grips the hairs thoroughly and you pull in the direction of hair growth to ensure everything is removed from the root like plucking. Often it is a malleable ball which you can reuse. This is just a regular waxing kit. You soften the wax, apply it, press a strip onto it, and rip it upwards. Some hairs lift out while some are torn, it's messy, and I have no idea how you're supposed to do a whole leg with only the number of strips they give you. I just did one shin with half of the strips provided, attempting to reuse a little for the odd hair that didn't come up (with no luck at all). I still have stray hairs where I waxed and I have the whole rest of that leg and the whole other leg left with about half the product remaining. This is absolute garbage.

Seems good, but I'm inexperienced with waxing...
First off I have never waxed or done anything of this sort in my entire life so my rating is a bit biased. My first attempt was on my legs: I did not feel that this is terribly messy as I've read in other reviews. It's sticky, yes but it wipes up with water and if you work over a towel it's not a problem. The actual waxing part was not as good. I followed the directions exactly and it removed some hair but left a lot. I did some googling and learned that for waxing you need at least 1/4in hair growth so I figured the same is true for sugaring.Second attempt, armpits: This one was a doozy. The hairs go in every direction and it's difficult to hold skin taught by yourself. It took many many attempts to get the majority of the hair from both pits and my armpit was pretty irritated for the rest of the day but it got the job done and I only had to pluck a few strays. I think smaller fabric strips and working in very small sections would make this part go better.Third attempt, legs again: This time I made sure I had adequate hair growth before going at it and it worked much better than the first time. Still not every single hair but it got all of the thick dark hairs that bother me. I only had to pluck a couple stray hairs on my ankle bone. Holding skin taught is definitely important. I also spread gel up and down (not just in direction of hair growth as instructions say). It seems to work better that way. Conclusion: I think that if you are experienced with waxing and/or have help this is a pretty good product. I've always heard that waxing was painful but I would hardly consider this painful. On my legs the pain was so minor I did not even notice it and on my armpits it was probably a 3/5 mostly because I kept going at it and it got really irritated. I actually reuse the strips multiple times until the gel built up a lot on them before getting a fresh one and when the work area started to get to sticky I wiped down with a wet towel until the area was clean and re-powdered.
