Wow, I was amazed at the quality of this product. I bought one as a gift for a friend, and I am really glad I bought one for myself. They're a beautiful work of art. A perfect gift for a man. I am giving this as a gift for the hourglass to symbolize how our time on this earth this earth is short and for that reason we need to share the Gospel messge of Salvation with the lost; and the compasses to symbolize how we need to depend on God and the Holy Spirit to give us direction.

Works good and looks good

For me, at just under $20 it is very nice. It was bought for my elderly father so he could time his tea bags. It was originally timed at about 5 minutes 20 ish seconds. Unscrewing the 3 decorative nuts allowed me to gain access to the glass tube. There is a hole at the bottom on one side sealed by tape. Only 3 minutes was needed. So from the unsealed(tape) side, I tipped it upright allowing sand into the sealed end. At 3 minutes I tipped it on its side, stopping the sand. I dumped the excess into a zip bag. Resealed with new scotch tape. And now it's a Classy exact 3-minute timer my father uses every day. P.S. Use a paper towel between screws and pliers as not to leave tool marks on the nuts.

Item is smaller than I expected but it's size is properly listed in the description so I still would have given it 5 stars. I gave it 3 stars because the sand I received is an ugly bright purple color instead of the reddish brown shown in the picture. The ugly color makes the product seem cheap and does not match the theme.

It holds due North on both sides of the flip, its small but very sturdy, 3minute intervals are very accurate. Its a great add to your home, office, or library.

If I could give this 10 stars, I would! VERY easy to replace the included sand with your own, which was my plan for a commemorative decoration for a recent vacation. My sand doesn't actually flow through it, but I was able to tamp it enough for the desired look. I actually like it, since it's just decor.

Love it, but wayyyyy smaller than I thought it would be. More my fault on reading and measuring.

Pretty good for sand timing tech! Description says 3 minutes and this one at 16C temp at 3411 feet above sea level is 2 mins 49 seconds. Cool! The Compasses actually work and it is a very attractive little 'hour' glass. I'm very pleased with it.
