How do you know what size to buy

The regular Truck/SUV model fits most tires. The "Oversize - XL" model is for the big Off-Road Mudder Tires. If you run a strap through your rim and around the tire as the Trac-Grabber would be installed and then measure the length, the regular Truck/SUV model is good for 40 inches or less. Over 40 inches requires the Oversize XL model.

How do they work in the sand?

Sorry, but I.ve never tried them in sand.... However, I have tried them here in East Texas where we have black land clay... They do not work at all with the soil we have. I don't recommend you spending your money for them until you can find somebody that has actually used the in sandy soil.

Will large size fit lt265/70/17?

You will just need the regular Truck/SUV model for your 265/70/17's

"Designed to be used by both men and women" Does it come with a pink strap? ;)

Most tire chains are complicated and hard to put on. So yes these would be very simple for men who never have done manual labor and women to put on.
