So80s Presents Ultravox

Glad to see this new turn for the so80s series. After four volumes of various artists, compilers Blank & Jones are now focusing their attention on individual 80s acts and bringing a bunch of their 12" mixes together on one disc. Of course, none of these is really definitive, and a lot of this stuff has appeared on other compilations. Unfortunately, the Ultravox compilation is the biggest offender. All of these mixes have been on various other collections, and this isn't much different than the "Extended Ultravox" CD that's been around for a while. What most fans are longing to find are the U.S. 12" mixes of Dancing with Tears in my Eyes and One Small Day on CD--this is a missed opportunity. Track list is:1. Vienna - 4:582. The Voice - 6:023. I remember buying my first Ultravox vinyl album as pre 18 year old, the album Vienna, have been a fan of the band and Midge Ure ever since, some excellent mixes. If you are a fan of Ultravox or Midge Ure, don’t hesitate, just buy it.

Aah, fond memories of youth. Bought most of the 12" records which currently languish in my loft, so is good to hear them again. One extended version I hadn't heard before is the White China special mix. The Voice, We Came To Dance, and One Small Day are digital remasters; We Came To Dance in particular sounding really good.Recommended.
