This product says free return but when I tried to return it, it tells me to print label and pay postage. Why is that if it says it’s free?

You should never have to pay postage on a free return , but sometimes you have to take the package and drop it a post office or UPS location. If you select to have your package picked up by delvery service , then sometimes they may charge a fee to pick up your package.

Will it soak up Water and get squishy?

Yes it will soak up liquids from the floor around it. Only the top is water proof. So if you have a spill somewhere around it, the button if this will suck it up like a sponge and is not easy to clean. Top part is as described though.
