A necessity for everyone
I think the people who don't think it "works" don't understand the science and theory behind LLLT and they're not using it properly.LLLT (low light laser/led therapy) is light of a wavelength that is absorbed by things inside your cells (cytochrome P450 is one). If you know anything about chemistry you would know that reactions need a certain energy threshold to work. By providing this energy at the exact frequency that's absorbed by these molecules, you "give them a nudge". The result is that you encourage certain reactions within the cell to occur... basically, it's like recharging or jumpstarting the cells. Specifically, you're encouraging the production of ATP (your cell's energy source) and the "garbage collection" processes. The cell now has more energy and cleans up oxidants and wastes better. It also triggers various processes relating to pain and inflammation.Typically you can expect a reduction in pain and inflammation a few hours to a day after applying the device. It's great for back "knots" for example, or cricks in necks. I've also used it to help heal tendonitis and tennis elbow, as well as muscle strains. However for best results you need to apply it EVERY DAY... and only ONCE per day per area. There are reasons for this. Deep injuries, or injuries that you've had for a while, will obviously not respond as well as acute (new) injuries or superficial ones. Don't expect your deep leg pain to go away as fast as wrist pain. Likewise, it does NOT work for skeletal or bone pain because the light does not penetrate. So don't expect it to cure your arthritis (though it might help with tissue inflammation around the joint). I have noticed it takes at least 3 days to reach maximum effect. It isn't a miracle cure but it IS darn close for muscular pains and inflammation. It's much more effective over 3 days than ibuprofen is... tried and tested this myself. But don't expect it to work in 15 minutes, or work well with one application.

Don't Count on This Unit Lasting for Long
OK, it does seem to offer some relief to my bad knees and hip. I am careful not to overuse the unit and treat it very gingerly. However, it is shoddily and cheaply made and does not last for very long. I purchased the first one in early 2016. The pad connector unit stopped working within 6 months. In all fairness, I had been switching out the pad for the extra-large one daily. So I bought another unit. In under a year, the connectors have again been problematic, the power transformer has gone out, and 1/2 of the pad has stopped working. This unit, I treated very gingerly: never unplugged the pad to use the larger one, used electrical tape on the power wires to prevent kinking, and made sure to not bend the "flexible" pad too much. I have limped along by scavenging still working parts from the first unit just to keep the second one working. So while I like that the unit delivers hands-free treatment, I am now looking for a more well-made similar unit. I'm willing to spend more for one that won't fall apart in less than a year.

IT WORKS !!!!
I regularly receive cold laser therapy for injuries. Cold laser WORKS !!!This is not Cold Laser but it is same principle --low level light therapyHowever, there are aches and pains that are from tension, permanent injury etc. that you need help with daily or at inconvenient times, and you need help to alleviate the pain !!This little unit is NOT anywhere near to cold laser BUT it still works on your joints and muscles that are not deep(hard to reach).Jaw, neck, shoulder , knee , foot, hand are all working for me. Hip jointis a bit deep for this and deep inner knee area, but it still has helped those to a decent degreeI respond well to cold laser, over 80% of people do, and if you are in that percentile this will work!!!!I have TMJ disorder and I am one of the 'failures' as far as a permanent cure goes, and this helps immensely when the pain is bad !It also helps when I over exert and need my neck relieved of the pain.I have tried the hip and it works to a good degree for me, I can not say it would for most because it supposedly will not, but what can I say, sometimes it does work for the hip for me and I am pleased.I would recommend this wholeheartedly and if you do not like , return oR better yet , save shipping by selling on eBay or Amazon...keep original packaging. You can not lose!!My doctor who works on me w/ cold laser convinced me to try this....GLAD I DID !!It is made to be convenient , you can use it multiple ways, it has straps to hold it in place, it seperates to use on awkward spots, you can use w/ or w/out heat, it has a storage/carry w/you case that is a sturdy blackbag and you can use w. batteries or an adapter.I find this a great help and I am one who has intense neck and jaw pain all of my life that I can remember.I have to be quite grateful I can use this instead of harmful drugs.Try it, you can not lose.PS it works on cuts etc They heal more quickly when you use this over them right away...I am trying it on some scars I have to see if it will workthey sell units just like this for decreasing wrinkles...can not hurt to tryIf it reduces the scarring I will be back to give it a 5 star !!!!************WATCH OUT FOR ALLEGRO MEDICAL< they would not help me, I contacted Amazon, they had me contact the actual manufacturer who did want 14.95 to ship new one(mine was defective) so I contactec Amazon again and they took care of THAT issue. AMAZON is AWESOME , so feel safe.....but be persistent in case you do not get a great CSR, the 2nd one will be great!!!
