Really worth having
Ok, so, yes, buy these cards- they are nice.I mean, there is a very large variety of items in this deck. you can't go wrong with this deck. I especially like how the nest card has no eggs in the nest. I have purchased other decks from other companies and their nest always have eggs. This is confusing to most children because they almost always say "eggs" instead of "nest".My complaint is minor. The puppy looks like a small dog, I would have used a pic of a puppy who was so young that its eyes had not yet opened. Same thing with the kitten, it looks like a small cat. I can easily see kids saying dog, or cat when they see these images. But as I said, these complains are minor. I think you will enjoy these cards. I purchased them for the vehicle variety alone and I'm impressed with the included diversity of animals and household items.

Great for students whose home language isn't English!
These are great to use to work with students whose parents can't help them because they don't read English. The front has a picture clue. The back is just a word. After a teacher works with them a few times with the pictures, you can send them for homework (or in-class practice) and the student can check their own answers by looking at the pictures. I recommend occasionally check-ins at school to make sure they are remembering the correct word for the pictures.

My daughter actually loves them!
I wasn't sure if I was being overly optimistic in buying these for our 14 month old. I thought she might not have any interest in the cards even though I wanted to buy her something with "real" pictures of objects and animals on it to learn from. Well it turns out that she loves these cards, especially the vehicle and animal cards. The cards are pretty sturdy but could definitely tear if you leave a toddler completely unattended with them. I came back to write a review because I was pleasantly surprised by how much we've used these with her and I imagine we will only continue to do so!

Oldie but a goodie!
Everything about these cards are perfect! Easy to read for the kiddos, perfect size, and excellent for teaching and learning. They can last forever durable and they are not floppy the perfect thickness. They have the classic look and real life images so kids can associate items/objects.

Flash Cards and more
I have a two year old that was being lazy about speaking. We knew she understood everything we say because of her appropriate responses and actions. She's said many words, too, but she's not consistent. The cards were for encouragement and were used as a toy not a forced issue. She likes to "play" with them as much as she likes to color. She brings the box to me or her twin brothers and loves to go through them with all the praise we load on her when she says a word. She goes through them several times a day now by her own choice and talks constantly as a result. We've only had them a few weeks and her progress is phenomenal. I've added a few extra cards using my paint shop pro program which contain names and faces of family members and pets and friends. I think she'll be reading before she's four and couldn't be happier with this purchase!

Useful words to learn
Would have given it 5 stars for useful words and nice colorful pictures, but the cards were a bit thin almost transparent. I got this style of flash card mainly because it follows zoophonics approach to teaching words. My daughter can't read the words yet, but exposing her to words with pictures early does work. She was more familiar with a word a year after I had happened to have (for my sake) next to a drawn picture (for her recognition) on a box to describe content in it. She recognized that word more readily than other card words. So, early expose works, even if it's just a game of name that picture for now.

Picture Words Flash Cards
These cards were being used by my Mother's speech therapist to help her recover from Aphasia. These cards are large & sturdy. These cards include grouping of clothes, transit vehicles, some animals, shapes, colors, some foods, & road signs. These cards have a large number of one syllable words which is a must at this stage of the game. I am pleased with my purchase & I have begun to see an improvement in Mom's condition with daily practice.

Well designed
My two year old son loves the cards and learned a lot of new words from these quickly. These are very well designed for learning—the clear pictures on white background focus them only on that object that you want them to see—something that speech therapists recommend. Though he isn’t ready for reading anytime soon, the words are printed along with the object which I think will help him begin to associate that the letters go with the spoken word.
