TERRO Fruit Fly Trap 4-Pack, 180 Day Lure Supply, Food-Based Lure

Every summer my apartment has a fruit fly problem. After getting some Raid traps and a week of no results I swapped to these. Almost a week with only two dead fruit flies with the other one and I've gotten two dead in the one night I've had these set up. I've always used these traps in the past and decided to try another brand and I can now say they got a lifelong customer out of me after comparing it. Give it a few days. It might not get all of them at once or get them slowly, but it will help manage the fruit fly population. Sometimes , very annoyingly, you will find fruit flies hanging around it rather than going in: but from my experience after leaving them out for a while i've come back to find them with nearly a dozen or so dead inside. Even if they don't kill them right away, they will help keep the fruit flies in a single location: consider moving where the trap is slightly to at least keep them contained away from sight. Folks, there's a reason you see these in public. It really helps!

Was hoping these would work well for my office that is in an old building, and ma oh man, so they ever! I put a trap out yesterday and this morning I came back to find so many dead inside. A couple minutes ago I put out another trap, because I was being bothered by just one fruit fly and now they are SWARMING this thing. My phone camera does not do the photo I took justice. I could see myself reusing the cute apple container again once the trap liquid has hit its 45 days of use. They do have a little vinegar funk to them, put it doesn’t fill a whole room. It’s worth the smell if it’s doing what it needs to do.

Had a medium sized fruit fly infestation in my kitchen and used this to successfully get rid of all the flies within days, but I had to improvise an extra step. Here’s the thing: it works very well for attracting flies (I had several swarming near me the moment I opened the bait package), BUT the flies just don’t go into the holes! I watched them gather for like half an hour napping, mingling, even breeding on top of the apple.. it was like watching Fast Times in Fly High where they were doing everything EXCEPT actually falling into the trap. Sometimes they’ll crawl in then pop right back out. I waited overnight and still not a single fly dropped into the trap. If you keep waiting around, you’ll enable them to create a breeding ground and multiply. I wasn’t about to wait for up to a week like some reviewers suggested to see them POSSIBLY starting to drop into the trap. I ended up taking matters into my own hands, and recommend you do the same if you buy this. Here’s what I did: I rigged a clear plastic cup with this double sided sticky trap that I’d bought from Amazon some time back for like $5- the name is “Fruit Fly Traps Indoor Fungus Gnat Trap 48PCS for Plants Yellow Houseplants Outdoor Use Insect Sticky”. I’ll attach a picture for you to see what I’m talking about, but this was my makeshift capture tool. The idea is to just have some sort of cup or container lined with anything sticky enough to capture the flies. Every 30 minutes or so I’d check on the apple trap to see like 3-5 flies gathered on top, then I’d lower the cup upside down on top of the apple to trap the flies all within the cup. I’ll move the cup around in little circles to make them panic fly around until all of them are caught on one of the sticky traps inside the cup. The trick to catching them before they fly off is to move VERY slowly. After experimenting, I realized they don’t seem to perceive threats when you move anything towards them at a really slow pace. Just a side note I’m talking specifically about smaller fruit/drain flies, this trap isn’t for regular sized house flies. I did this every couple minutes throughout the day up until they finally stopped showing up altogether. That’s mostly it for this product, but I wanna share some additional steps and tips to make sure anyone reading eliminates their fly problem for good You’ll need to eliminate the source of the flies and any potential food source, often fruits/veggies you might be leaving out in the open. I heard stories of people finding some potato or veggie they forgot rotting away in some cabinet or basement when their flies kept coming back, so check thoroughly. In my case, it was my leftover taco Tuesday boxes I left out with a tray of jalapeños and limes I had in the open for half a day. From there they made their way to my trash can and trash bags I had lying around. Once I tossed all this out and took out my trash bags, they stopped multiplying, but I still had to deal with the 2-3 dozen flies already in the house. This is where the actual product comes in (see above) To make sure the flies don’t come back, wipe down your countertops and common places they tend to land to eliminate any eggs they might’ve laid. They’re especially known to lay eggs deep in your sink where just running water down won’t be enough. Flush your sink with baking soda + vinegar and boiling water (just boiling water is fine if you don’t have the other two). As a bonus step, leave a chunk of ice in the sink drain overnight to prevent them from getting in (I personally didn’t need this step) Btw the bait is just apple cider vinegar for those having problems with the refills not being enough. I accidentally spilled some and replaced it with my own stock of apple vinegar and got the same results. If using your own, you might also want to add a small drop of dish soap to break the surface tension to enable the flies to drown, at least that’s what online sources tell me I’ll give it a 4/5 stars since it’s cheap, I like the apple design, and it somewhat works. Taking off a star for the reasons mentioned with the flies not actually dropping into the hole (several swarmed on top, but not a single one dropped in after 2 whole days). Even though I had to improvise the capture method myself, I still had this product to thank for attracting all the flies, and ultimately I did get rid of all my fruit flies within a few days

This really don't work that well. One reason is because the holes on top are very small. The fruit flies walk around on top but few drop inside. The fly lure is vinegar based. Apple cider vinegar would probably work just as well. Perhaps it would work better if there was enough attractant to fill the traps higher. It also attracts houseflies but they're too big to go into the holes.

These fly traps work exactly as advertised! They were easy to set up, and I noticed a difference quickly. I love that the package comes with four refills, giving you up to 180 days of coverage, which makes it a great value for the money. The traps have done a great job catching flies and helping keep the area much more comfortable. I also appreciate that I don't have to replace them constantly since they last a long time. I’ve never had fruit flies at my current house, but got them pretty bad this year in my kitchen. I made sure there was NOTHING send my kitchen that would attract the flies(put my fruit in the fridge or cabinets) put three apple traps out and they were gone in a couple days. You just have to wait it out, but they won’t work if you still have food/fruit bowls laying around. It won’t happen in one day. I’ve tried these before at other homes with no luck, but this time it got rid of them FAST. I used them simultaneously with fruit fly drain foam (not sure the brand).

These have been somewhat effective. While I have seen less of these pests when I've got this active, I've also seen them literally just hangout on top of the apple. It's like it can see its dead incestuous disgusting family in the goo and it actually takes it as a warning to not proceed. Perhaps I should stop reusing the same trap... Once this stuff runs out, the pests start right back up again. Not as dense as before, but it is noticeable. I'd rather have this than nothing, that's for sure. I wish this came with way more of the liquid. I feel like I have too many apples and not enough liquid. This seller doesn't appear to sell the liquid in bulk, you just have to buy more traps, which is annoying. I also prefer filling it way more than it suggests because if I fill it less, then I have to replace it more frequently. Ergo, providing more of the liquid would be far more useful. This does emit a faint smell, but I've found that it only smells when I'm directly above it. Make sure to tell your guests or family that this thing can spill if you pick it up wrong. I'd ideally rate this maybe 3.5 stars. It works well enough to keep the pests down, but it's not a permanent solution and they don't always fall for the trap. Update: I've changed my mind. Solid 4 stars. I noticed German roach nymphs wading dead in the liquid. I've been keeping these near my sink because that's where the fruit flies hang out. It appears as though the roaches, while trying to get a drink in the sink, find the fruit fly trap and want in. I have a small infestation of roaches in my place, so if they don't fall for one trap, I'm glad they'll fall for another. I don't like having roach traps on my counter due to the chemicals used, so this much-less-poisonous-to-humans trap is a great alternative.

This product doesn't seem to do anything, it's just a waste of money and you can't even return it for a refund.

Trust me, not worth it at all so weak. Just mix 100ml apple vinegar with 3-4 drops of dish soap in a small cup and you will see the difference

Suddenly fruit flies started to spread inside the house, with no actual reasons identified, no repellent is capable of control. I even hired a specialised pest control company, but they were unable to contain the situation for longer than 3 days. This product dramatically reduced the number of fruit flies but did not fully resolve it. The lure evaporates fast and no fill up. Generally I’m happy with the outcome and I think it is worth the amount of money I paid!

Works wonderfully. Since the moment I set these up in my house, I haven't seen a single fly flying around. When I look through the little window on the trap, I can see it full of flies. I will definitely be purchasing these over and over again.
