Al-Ghazali's Moderation in Belief

Great read for those interested in the theological presentation of the Islamic creed from the writings of the erudite scholar. A much recommended read for thinkers. The translation here is easy to read and comprehensive.

really amazing translation and quite a tough read, this is no leisure book but the real deal. I would recommend reading up in philosophy and more basic kalam books before digging into this one. Ghazali as always blows you away with his intelligence.

The book itself is a masterpiece and classic of Islamic Theology so the deduction of starts is not for the content, which I have read in the original Arabic; nor this translation, which I've had acccess to in an academic library. It's the poor quality binding I take issue with and sadly this is not the first time I have had this problem with Amazon. I have received a paperback copy printed and bound by Amazon and for just shy of £30.00 you'd expect better. The paper quality is decent enough I suppose though by no means great; but the covers are ridiculously thin and arrived warped. Moreover, the pitifuly thin glue binding is unlikely to withstand the multiple readings that are warranted by a book like this and a split spine is a foregone conclusion. As such, the binding is not fit for purpose. I for one have returned my copy for a refund. Either go for the hardback if you can afford it or look elsewhere online for a paperback as I have.
