Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Oxide Dry-Touch Face Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 50, Oil-Free, Non-Comedogenic & Non-Greasy Mineral Sunscreen, 2 fl. oz

I love this sunscreen. This will be my new daily sunscreen to wear under my makeup, or alone ( i prefer to wear makeup most days) . Honestly, i think everyone complaining about this doesn't understand how zinc oxide works diffrently than chemical sunscreens. SO much better for your skin. Yes, it leaves a bit of a white cast(its going to because of the zinc), and no it doesn't dry down into a dry touch, because of the zinc being a heavier mineral that sits on the skin as opposed to absorbing like a chemical sunscreen, its just not gonna happen. Put it on, let it dry down for about 15 miniutes, use primer (if you're wearing foundation or bb cream) and set it all with a powder just like normal. Your foundation will cover the slight white cast. My makeup looks just fine at the end of a 12 hour day. Just set it with powder like you should be doing anyway, and all of that weird waxy sunscreen feeling will go away. If you want to keep your skin looking younger longer, a zinc oxide sunsreen is really the only way to go. Cant beat the price or protection on this one. *UPDATE * I've been playing around with this under makeup for a while now. I've found that on top of the great sun protection, this sunscreen is actually a fantastic primer! I use maybelline matte and poreless foundation and blend with a beauty blender knock off. Works just as good as the maybelline blurring primer I was using previously.

Excellent. Non-greasy. A little goes a long way. And it's full of the coveted zinc sunscreen, much recommended by the dermatologist. Like any of the zinc-based products, this sunscreen goes on kind of thick and scares you by laying down a white film. But don't panic! You can rub it in, or if you wander away from the mirror for a few minutes and come back, you may find the warmth of your body has caused it to melt a bit and soak in. It helps to put moisturizer on first, then layer the sunscreen over that. If you're using it on your face (and you happen to be female), this strategy adds a few minutes to your make-up routine, so allow for that in the morning. If I were a man, I'm not sure I'd put this on directly after shaving...test a small amount before slathering it on. Since I've started using this, the brown spots have faded significantly and the plague of actinic keratoses seems to have stopped. I now keep one tube in the bathroom and one in the car, where I can apply to hands and arms if I've forgotten to put it on before flying out the door.

I was looking for a lower-priced physical sunscreen and I do trust the Neutrogena brand. It does leave a white cast but the white cast goes away. It created a kind of 'blur' effect to my skin. I had zero irritation to my rosacea prone skin. Actually, most sunscreens irritate me in general - they feel sticky or tacky or heavy, but this one I put on and pretty much forgot about, though there is some residue feel to my skin, but that's to be expected with physical sunscreens. I prefer physical sunscreens even though they do sit atop the skin and can have that white cast. But the chemical sunscreens make me just a little nervous with their ingredients. And, with chemical sunscreens, you have to put them on first on your bare skin - that's okay if I'm not doing any of my skincare routine and using only sunscreen, but that's rare.

I have fair skin that is prone to burning and I was looking for an inexpensive mineral sunscreen. When I first tried this sunscreen, I found it slightly hard to apply and tacky on my skin due to the consistency as well as having a very white cast so I went back to my more expensive tinted mineral sunscreen. While my tinted sunscreen is more cosmetically elegant and easier to apply for daily use, I found that even with reapplying I would get sunburned on my hairline when I was out in the sun sweating. I decided to try this sunscreen again before a full day at the pool (used some foundation after applying to cover up the white cast), despite not reapplying and sweating for 4 hours out in the sun I had no sunburn whatsoever. So while I probably won't use this for daily use, I will definitely keep this around for days that I plan to be out in the sun for long periods of time, even if I have to use some foundation to tone down the white cast.

So I notice the listing says this is for Sheer Zinc "Dry Touch", but nowhere in the packaging or product does it say "Dry Touch". Even in the photos for the product, none of them show "Dry Touch" on them for the face sunblock, and only one image for the body sunscreen 3 pack shows a different tube that says it. I know Neutrogena does have other sunscreens that say "Dry Touch" on them that may well be, but most of those come in blue tubes/packaging, not yellow, and be careful because some are not mineral. This one says it contains no oils, yet it sits on your face very greasy and shiny for HOURS. When first applying it feels thick and you really have to work to appear it around your face, it's not thin or light at all. Hours later I could touch my face, and my hand and fingers would come away shiny and oily. I thought this was supposed to be more of a light, matte sunscreen, but it's definitely neither. Giving it a 3 because I'm sure it will still protect from the sun, which is it's main purpose. But this cannot be my daily sunscreen.

Works perfectly. Completely unscented. When first applied it is opaque white, but don’t worry. Spread it around by rubbing and it disappears. Doesn’t immediately come off when swimming. It doesn’t clog my pores and is not oily. And it doesn’t sting my eyes. It feels noticeable on the skin for a very short time. I put Cortisone-10 Aloe Cream lotion on my face before applying which makes it easier to wash the sunscreen completely off in the shower. Good stuff! Not sure, but I think some scuba diving locations / resorts/ pools only allow mineral sunscreens like this one. ( (Forgot to mention- I’m guessing you can use lotion other than the Cortisone-10 Aloe Cream (it’s available on Amazon) but it works so well that I stick with it. )

I love Neutrogena products, and if you need extra protection where you don’t care the white cast look, go for it! I rubbed it several times along my face, and although this specific product from Neutrogena will not work under makeup, or ven alone if you’re attempting going to the grocery store, it would most definitely protect you from the Sun if you go on a boat ride, the beach, the mountains, the river, etc. it is heavy, and the white cast has a meaning: It’s protecting your skin!! I recommend Moisturizing Face Serum SPF 60+ with Vitamin E, “Fragrance Free”, and/or Age Shield Face Oil -Free SPF 110 “This last one does have fragrance”, and heavier than the serum enlisted above, but you could still use liquid or cream makeup, “preferably”, along with it. I do wish that this one offered a higher SPF, but it’s pretty moisturizing, and the white cast will not be noticeable if you apply a little bit at a time! :)

It was quite expensive for one tube, however, the tube is 2 ounces which makes up for the price.
