Masterfully succinct!
For the beginner, there is no such thing as an easy basic statistics text. For one who has completed a first course, there is no such thing as an easy regression text. In fact, most textbook treatments of applied regression analysis are sufficiently difficult that they pretty well test the statistical mettle of even those who have acquired a good deal of knowledge and experience working with other techniques. The econometrics texts are commonly the most densely mathematical, but even regression books written to be more or less reader-friendly, such as Regression Analysis by Example, are rarely easy going.Schroeder, Sjoquist, and Stephan, however, have come about as close as one can to putting together a generally accessible textbook that makes regression analysis understandable even for those who are short on experience and not naturally talented at quantitative endeavors. For someone who has just finished a basic course, the book requires careful reading with a minimum of distraction and at least some tolerance for short-term frustration, but the work required to master the material will prove to be a good investment. It never occurred to me that it was possible to write a creditable introduction to regression analysis, complete with useful material on regression diagnostics, in the ninety-two pages of one of Sage's little green paperbacks. But Schroeder, Sjoquist, and Stephan have done it. Once you've completed this book you're be able to interpret regression analyses that appear in books, journals, evaluation reports, policy statements, and just about anywhere else.Yes, it's true that those who make a profession of doing research with regression have countless ways of adding complexity to this basic tool. Again, economists are especially adept at this. Nevertheless, with a little extra work with more technical references, readers of Understanding Regression Analysis will be in a good position to understand most applications of OLS regression. That covers a lot of literature!Understanding Regression Analysis is a remarkably good introduction to this widely used statistical technique. Anyone learning regression will benefit for the Schroeder, Sjoquist, and Stephan's presentation.

Clear, concise & very useful reference
This book is a very clear, easy to understand and pretty broad introduction to the subject of Regression Analysis. The authors write as if they are teaching in a class. The "Why" and "What" of some of the pertinent issues when one performs regression are explained really well - hypothesis testing, improving regression models, de-bugging and model building. The "How" are not the focus of the book and can be looked in any of the great references mentioned such as by Draper & Smith. The topic on Hypothesis Testing is covered in fair details (again, Why and What are stressed) and I found it to be a refreshing perspective on exactly what is it we look for (and should not look for) when performing hypothesis tests. The book also has pointers to advanced topics and handling pitfalls with regression...All in all, a great read that can be done in a week!

A Good Introduction for Understanding the Basics
The book starts off with easy to understand examples and everyday language. Because it attempts to keep the concepts at a basic understanding, it skips over how equations were developed. This is sometimes helpful and sometimes confusing. As long as you're willing to go with the flow, the book will be fine. I like that it continued to build on the same examples in later chapters that were introduced in previous chapters.

Well written statistics
I strongly recommend this book, for it is relatively clear. It condenses all one needs to know about the linear and multivariate regression statistics, in less than hundreds papers,

Quick read. Fairly lite overview.
A light weight and dated booklet. I was hoping that it would cover logistic regression but no. I can't complain though as it will be a good review of the basics.
