Q: Is there a way to get a socket on the inside to tighten this to the regulator?

There is but I can't recall the size wrench needed to tighten the brass part to the regular. I believe it was a see metric socket that went over the POL from the inside.

Q: I have a back yard brand 14-101-001-03 gas grill. i need to replace the nut. would that work?

I’m not familiar with the specs on your grill.

Q: Will a braided stainless propane hose connect to this ?

The larger diameter fits onto the special propane tank left thread fitting. The smaller end will fit your braided SS hose if the hose treads are ¼” FPT (female pipe threads) to match the ¼” MPT
