Does this product also remove preexisting scale and build up?

I do not think it is a scale remover to eliminate previous scales existing in your water line system however once installed the heat generated from the coils will enable the water to flow freely to avoid scale build up in the line.

Will this help with my well water thats high in sodium that leaves deposits on shower glass?

I don’t know why it wouldn’t help.

what is the effective range, our pipe run is over 60 feet, will this unit work, or will I need two?

I installed 2 units in our apt; one in bathroom and other in the kitchen. It is better to have 2 units since the cord may not be that long to cover 60 ft.
