I get dandruff. Like everyone else in the world.
I use a prescription shampoo, but flakes still come off my scalp when I comb it. This product has little white spheroids that, when you rub your scalp, help detach the flaky skin. Then, because it’s a conditioner. the scrubbing balls get washed out when you rinse. Only once in a while do I find one or two in my comb when I dry my hair. And it conditions my hair nicely!

Wonderful
I use this every other time I wash my hair. It gives me great volume and really makes my scalp feel clean. My only concern would be that if it gets past the hairline it is very drying. To combat this I use a heavy moisturizer on my ends.

Just not it for me
Hmm. Where do I start? Imagine adding some sand to your conditioner and then rubbing that mixture onto your scalp. That would be a lot like using this product.I have a LOT of wavy hair and I'm no stranger to scalp scrubs of various types. I find them really necessary as a part of my regular cycle of product use because the one down side of washing my hair only twice a week is that my scalp is often itchy, or dry, or otherwise unbalanced. So, in terms of helping it feel more balanced, I actually give this product pretty high marks. Virtue is an awesome brand, so I would expect no less. But the execution is odd. It really does feel like conditioner with sand in it. I don't feel like what little grittiness it has does *anything* to exfoliate my scalp. Nor does this product leave my scalp feeling tingly or particularly refreshed.Maybe I'm just spoiled by what I feel like is my gold standard of scalp scrubs, Philip B. That has big scrubby chunks to scrunch in and so much tingly goodness. This Virtue product just doesn't hold a candle to that at all. And they're not *that* far apart in price point.Instead, this product is much more similar to a $10ish drug store brand scalp scrub I've used previously. I would describe them both in similar terms. The problem is, in this case, it costs far too much to be so lackluster in performance. This scrub just wasn't it for me. At all.

Overpriced
I feel like the cost is outrageous for the amount of product received. In fact I think most of their product line is overpriced as it’s not very concentrated and requires a lot of it to get the job done. This one is very gritty and while I think that in the rare occasion you might need a good cleansing, I don’t see how this can be needed for even biweekly use. My scalp is still trying to get back to a calm state a month or so after using it.

mildly exfoliating, doesn't leave hair feeling dry
My hair has responded really well to Virtue brand shampoos and conditioners, so I wanted to try this Virtue Exfoliating Scalp Scrub. It has the appearance of a sugar scrub, but it functions more like a heavy conditioner that contains some salicylic acid for mild exfoliation. My scalp and hair don't feel dried out afterwards. It contains a fruity fragrance, too, which smells good (I think Virtue's scents are among the most appealing for haircare products), but fragrance can be irritating to sensitive skin, including scalp skin. The ingredients are:Aqua (Water, Eau), Cetearyl Alcohol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Powder, Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Dimethicone, Cetyl Esters, Cetyl Alcohol, Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate, Behentrimonium Chloride, Isododecane, Ceteareth-20, Keratin, Panthenol, Salicylic Acid, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Coffea Robusta Seed Extract, Citrullus Lanatus (Watermelon) Seed Oil, Biotin, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Hydrolyzed Adansonia Digitata Seed Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Seed Protein, Papain, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Caffeine, Jojoba Esters, Glucose, Tocopherol, Madecassoside, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Bromelain, Quercus Petraea Fruit Extract, Epilobium Angustifolium Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Asiaticoside, Phytic Acid, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Glyceryl Stearate, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycerin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Parfum (Fragrance), Amodimethicone, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sodium Phytate, Sodium Dilauramidoglutamide Lysine, Acetic Acid, Propanediol, Polysorbate 60, Polysorbate 20, Trideceth-12, Butylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Sodium Metabisulfite, Calcium Gluconate, Laureth-9, C11-15 Pareth-7, Sodium Nitrate, Maltodextrin, Alcohol, Glyoxal, Gluconolactone, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Chlorphenesin, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, BHT, Linalool, Benzyl Salicylate, Limonene.

Hard to wash out
Scalp scrub just gets stuck in my strands and it took at least two separate wash sessions to get all the granules out of my hair. Will not be using this ever again.
