Roku 3820EU Streaming Stick 4K | HD/4K/HDR Streaming Media Player, Black

I’ve been using the Roku Streaming Stick 4K (3820EU) for over a year, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my home entertainment setup. The device is impressively compact and easy to install, fitting discreetly behind my TV. The streaming quality is excellent, delivering vibrant 4K UHD picture with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ that really enhances the detail and color richness of movies and shows. Performance is smooth thanks to the quad-core processor, and the dual-band Wi-Fi ensures no lag or buffering, even on high-bitrate 4K streams. The included voice remote makes navigation and playback control simple, focusing on media-specific commands which work well for me. One important note about Bluetooth: while the Roku stick doesn’t support native Bluetooth audio output, you can easily connect Bluetooth headphones through the Roku mobile app using Private Listening Mode. This lets you route audio to your phone, then to your wireless headphones for convenient private listening. The app also doubles as a remote control, so you can fully control the stick from your smartphone, which is a handy feature if the physical remote is out of reach. Roku’s vast app selection and clean interface make content discovery easy, and features like Apple AirPlay integration add extra flexibility. Even after long-term use, this Streaming Stick remains reliable, quick to start, and easy to use, making it a great value that turns any TV into a smart 4K media center. So good I purchased another two.

Got this to replace my Apple TV....Apple TV is fantastic but my partner can't get on with the interface or remote. This is just her cup of tea. Easy to use, easy to set up, more tactile remote. Clear what you're about to click both on screen and on the remote. I set it up for her and it was really, really simple. Only thing to note is that the stick is quite long. My initial idea was to set this up on a small portable monitor then take it to the TV. The design of my Raspberry PI monitor didn't allow enough room for the stick. Probably never, ever going to be an issue on a regular TV but worth noting depending on your use case. Quality wise...I can't tell any differnece between this and my Apple TV. Works with HDR, picture is just as clear. No pixelating and sound seems just the same. One thing to mention is the start up time is longer if you power the device from a USB on the TV compared with keeping it plugged in. It's not crazy long, only a few seconds but definitely there. Power on the TV with the Roku remote, the Roku has to boot and then the remote has to pair. Less than 10s but another thing to note. Overall, if I knew then what I knew now, I'd probably have bought this over my Apple TV. All my favourite apps are there (even Apple Music) and best of all, it let me delete the BBC iPlayer app! Nice.

The Roku Streaming Stick is by a big margin one of the best purchases anyone with an old (or even new) tv can make. I have a Samsung “smart” TV (2015) which sadly now runs the older Samsung OS so everyday is becoming less and less smart, i decided to go with Roku instead of Amazon’s own stick due to airplay capabilities and boy oh boy it was the right decision. The Roku sticks works wonderfully both mirroring iPhone/iPad but also casting video and audio through AirPlay, although it does not support VPNs, i can connect my iPhone/iPad to VPN and cast video and it works great. UI is simple but effective, with minimal ads, and a wide array of apps to download. This model includes de remote that will also control your TVs volume, mute and power, so no need for a second remote, you can also download the Roku app on your smartphone which you can use as a second remote or to use as private listening device, very useful if you have kids in the house. I have just one minor gripe with the remote, if you power the Roku from a 1A USB port at the back of the TV, when the TV is off the remote is going to consume a significant amount of power trying to connect to the stick (the two connect through Wifi), so be ready to replace batteries rather frequently (they have lasted me around 3 months, which is ridiculous when other remotes (IR) would last years), although if you power it (Roku stick) from the mains you should not have this problem. The stick supports 5GHz Wifi so should be nice and fast, and includes all the major apps: Channel 4, iTV, BBC, my5, Netflix, Disney+, NOW, AppleTV+, Youtube, Prime Video, Spotify, Apple Music, even F1tv (although you can’t watch live races) and many more. Overall i am very happy to bring my not so old tv back from the brink of tech death and highly recommend the stick, especially if you have an iPhone but not an apple tv.

I’ve used an Apple 4K TV streamer since 2017 and in general it’s been great, with a couple of exceptions. The main one is Apple only support an old version of BBC iPlayer, so there’s no 4k and, in general the resolution does not look as good as it could be. The Roku 4K stick does support the latest version of iPlayer and does not transcode all audio to PCM. I have the stick plugged directly into my amplifier. It didn’t take long to setup and the picture and audio on all the apps I use are great. I can now get iPlayer in 4k. Performance wise the Roku does not compare with the Apple. Apps take longer to open and the Home Screen is not as good, but I expected this as the Roku is a third of the price of an Apple 4K. I use a Harmony remote and sometimes it loses connection with the Roku, this is really the only problem I’ve had. In general I’m very pleased with the Roku, however, if Apple and the BBC could get their act together I’m sure I would get another Apple.

This has literally saved me hundreds of pounds thanks to a random ad - not sure what it said but it made me click through. I was going to replace my 2016 Panasonic tv as both its own internal apps and a 2016 Amazon fire stick were so slow, locked or crashed and needed rebooting so often I would give up in frustration. Read the reviews and thought I’d got nothing to lose by trying this Rakuten. Oh wow - £39.99 and it’s like I have a super fast tv without changing it. Very easy and fast to set up too. And refreshingly less ad driven/in your face start-up screen. The volume and tv on/off on the remote also means I don’t need to have two remotes all the time. And one interesting option is the facility to link to headphones. I’m moving to a top floor flat soon and was concerned about volume passing through the floor as I’ve had some hearing damage but this way I can keep the volume just on me, although I haven’t tested yet as I’ve not found it in the settings so will have to delve a bit deeper. So overall an extraordinarily solid product and i may sound overly enthusiastic but I want to spread the word for anyone else wanting to overcome the built in obsolescence of their current kit!

Excellent product

I bought a Roku 2 a few years ago and loved it, however after a few years of use the remote started to eat batteries, for some reason it would go through a set of batteries every 2 or 3 days! I thought rather than try to get a new remote it probably made more sense to upgrade, so I bought the top of the line Streaming Stick 4K+, got it all set up and loved the performance, the interface and the ease of use. Loved it so much I decided to buy a second one to use with our Bedroom TV, all was working well for quite a few Months but I am really sorry to say the Remotes on both Roku's are now starting to play up! WHAT IS IT WITH ROKU REMOTES!??? I am now finding on both units the remotes just stop working, its not the batteries because I have replaced them, it seems to be a major fault with Roku units, every single day the remotes just stop functioning, you have to remove the batteries, wait a few seconds & then re-install them to get it to work, this is really annoying, especially if you are doing a bit of channel searching and are using the remote quite a lot, I have seen me having to remove the batteries maybe for or five times in one night! Sometimes when I remove the cover the green light is on (sometimes it is not) I am sorry to say that after years of using (& mostly loving) my Roku's I have decided to ditch them & move over to a different product (probably Amazon Firestick) I still think Roku's interface is the best by far, but this major flaw with remotes is too frustrating to continue to struggle with! I am going to check my terms & conditions with Amazon to see if I can return both units for a refund, BYE BYE ROKU!!

Impressed My "dumb" TV has become quite smart You just need a mains electricity supply and a HDMI socket in your TV (and wireless internet). You must have the remote control handy so as to activate the stick in the back of the TV each time you chance WiFi router (I take my stick when I travel), but can then use your smart phone as a virtual remote.

Per my internet browsing i thought it is a best device. But it is not. It is slower. Not very good bunch of apps. Apps are not well developed. Main screen interface is not that appealing too. Sometimes freezes.
