...and Chemex allows me to be the chemist I was destined to become. The integrated filter funnel and wide-mouth Erlenmeyer flask are ideal for brewing the perfect cup of coffee. Although I'm retired now, Chemex brings back memories of the long hours spent in the lab crystalizing reagents I needed to complete my doctorate. The Chemex Bonded Filters are the perfect and necessary complement to properly remove sediment from freshly ground coffee, none of the crunchy grounds at the bottom of a cup that one finds at low-end waffle houses. Kudos to Chemex.

This is the first time I've used the round-cut circles. I've always used the folded squares. I've discovered something interesting about these round filters--They are lighter weight than the folded squares, and less dense. This allows the water to flow through faster. Now I have to try to decide whether this makes a difference in the strength of the brew--whether I get stronger coffee with the more dense square filters. So far, it seems the strength is about the same, just brewed a little faster.

Love my chemex and these filters are perfect for a good cup of java.
