Nutramax Laboratories Cosequin Optimized with MSM Joint Health Supplement for Horses - Powder with Glucosamine and Chondroitin, 1400 Grams

I have a 26yr old gelding I’m pretty decent physical shape. He’s never shown joint issues till this year. We had temps drop to 9f. He was blanketed, but still walking around like he’d been beaten for three days. I ordered this product as my uncle had good luck with it. It recommends a double dose for 2-4 weeks or until he shows improvement. He started showing improvement in just under 2 weeks. He’s actually racing the other horses to the feed buckets at this point. It smells like apple and he never showed the slightest inclination not to eat his feed over it. I shake it up to distribute it. The only negatives is that I have drain holes in my feed buckets and I loose a little when he eats. I think I’ll switch to the pellet version of the same product vs the powder. Otherwise, I highly recommend this product. It seems expensive, but once they’re on the one scoop maintenance dose, it last 84 days. If you divide the price by 84, it doesn’t cost that much.

In just a few weeks this has made a difference in my 26yr old mares movement. Prior, she was prominently lame in her front knee with bone spurs appearing on X-ray. I first had her injected to reduce any swelling and ease her discomfort. This helped initially but nit long term. Then I had her on previcox daily whiched helped a little but not enough to make me feel that she could be ridden. (She's quite fit for 26) My vet suggested monthly injections combining two meds. I decided to look fir a supplement that gift help her to avoid the expense of the injections. My mare has been on this for about a month and a half on an initial double dose and next I will be putting her on a maintenance dose. She walked and trotted sound when ridden, and has been walk, trot , and cantering on the lunge sound for over two weeks. I feel it has made her much more flexible and is addressing the bone spurs in her knees and general stiffness of arthritis due to her age. Although she's always been sound behind. She eats it in her grain with no problem. It smells yummy and it's never left on the bottom of her bucket. I highly recommend

Use this for both my horse and dogs

Before I review the product I need to tell you about the way this was received. I buy this often. Very disappointed to receive my shipment today and have the powder spilling out of the box it was shipped in. Obviously the container had broke. Once I opened the box and looked inside, the lid was cracked open so much that the powder in the box was a few inches deep. I was less than happy about this. You can see from the photos, the broken lid and the amount of cosequin inside the box. This stuff is not cheap so having to waste some that spilled on to the floor as I tried to salvage what was in the box, was rather bothersome. Not to mention, I was asked if I was smuggling in drugs as I have my packages delivered to my office. Now I get sideways glances from others in my area. Other than this - I love the product and it works for my horses.

After diagnosing my daughter's horse with osteoarthritis, the vet told us to start her on a daily loading dose (double dose) of Cosequin. The veterinarian was very adamant that not all glucosamine products are created equal and said that Cosequin brand is consistently high quality and contains what it says it does. It costs a bit more than competitor's products, but after 6 months of that daily loading dose of Cosequin, our horse is once again rideable with no knee pain! Also, after noticing her reduction in pain, I put my older mare on Cosequin, but at the regular dose and she too, is much more comfortable. They can step out more freely, can stand comfortably for the farrier again, and take less warm up time when we exercise. I'll keep using this brand for the long haul!
