We bought this and the orginal item sent turned out to be defective. Even though it was past the return date this company contacted me and replaced the can opener for me. This can opener is very easy to use and doesn’t make a mess if I need to put the top back on I can and store in the fridge.

EDIT: The company reached out to apologize for the faulty product and sent me a new one right away. For the last 5 months, the new one has worked great! Hopefully it lasts even longer. Only complaint this time around is that the magnet is not very strong and does not usually pull the lid off the can so I actually have to pop it open myself.Original: Can opener worked great for the first month but then stopped working properly. It no longer glides around the can smoothly. It randomly stops which creates a dent in the can and does not cut anymore. I can move the opener to another spot but it continues to occur and results in a bunch of spots around the lid where it is still connected and therefore cannot open. I thought it was a fluke the first time it happened but it has happened every time since then, with various types of cans.

TL;DR - Top wheel that advances the can opener along the seam stripped after only 3 months of use making the opener useless.I purchased this to "upgrade" from my ancient old-school dollar store top-cutting can opener. The old opener still functioned but I liked the idea of the top coming off without leaving a lip on the can.This can opener worked fine for around 20~ish cans over two months.Last month it started skipping and getting more difficult to advance which left threads of the seal and caused me to have to use pliers to pull off the top.After around 15 more cans the following month I have been able to get the opener to catch for less than one rotation of the advancing wheel before it spins uselessly against the rim of the can.Some information from my experience: All the cans were multiples of the same item from the same brand and allowances were given to the opener if there was any dent to the ring which I understand could give any can opener problems.Star rating explanations:Ease of use: 3 stars - The opener is quite easy to use when it comes to the opener section. Where it loses stars is the magnet grabs the lid and puts the opener at an odd angle which can prevent the top advancement wheel from gripping. I was able to compensate for this and get it to work but I feel the opener would be better served without this magnet.Sturdiness: 2 stars - While the body and handle of the opener seem sturdy enough, the fact that the wheel stripped so easily and made the opener a paperweight after less than a year drops this to near 1-star territory.Durability: 1 star - The fact that I was able to go *back* to a dollar store top cutting can opener that I have had for more than 10 years and have it easily and cleanly open cans that this opener could not open after only 3 months of use puts this in the zero stars range but since that is not an option it gets just the one.
