Shimano TL-EW02 Di2 E-Tube Plug Tool

Fairly cheap, so why not? Buy this and use the right tool for the job. Not only will it make connecting/disconnecting your cables much easier, but it'll also help prevent any mishaps where you may damage a connector. Sure, you can get away with not using this tool, but for the cost, why not??

Unfortunately I bought the wrong (the old) E-tube connector tool and I only realized it after I opened the packaging. I would have needed the newer EW-300 series tool. Anyway, the price was super low

Before running Di2 E-tubes through the frame you really should connect everything in order to test that all the parts/wires work as expected. With this tool you can make sure Di2 E-tubes are fully inserted and connected properly. Just as importantly, after you test your setup you have to disconnect everything in order to install the internal wiring and this tool is the easy way to disconnect E-tubes without damaging them. One of these may come with your Di2 group but for what it costs it sure doesn't hurt to have a backup around.

A “must have” for installing Di2 cables. I know people say they can install without the tool, but my question is always why, when the tool makes it so much easier. I bought this, not realizing one came with my shifters. No big deal, as now I have an extra one. Disconnecting the Di2 cables is a breeze with this tool as well. It makes damaging them much less likely.

I bought this little tool to prevent damaging wires when unplugging DI2 cables. I have not had much trouble removing and installing them by hand but when I saw that this tool is offered I figured its probably a good idea. its a shimano-priced piece of plastic but it works. it snaps onto the overmold of the cable and allows you to unplug it without putting stress on the wire.

This product is utterly crucial for use when working on DI2. Failure to use it will wear out your very expensive components. For example, the Alphine DI2 11-Speed hub has exactly one weak spot -- the E-Tube socket. There are quite a few reviews out there complaining about E-Tube sockets breaking, but Shimano warns very clearly that failure to use the Plug Tool will do exactly that. Remember, wires can be replaced, but your ETube connectors cannot. Use the right tool for the job

They come supplied with your brake levers . I like to keep one at work and one at home . I use my bike for commuting so this solution makes sens . If your bike deserves Di2, you deserve the right tools . Peace of mind that you are not breaking your connectors or your components .
