Yes,it does come with tools and all items are individually wrapped in a protective bubble film to prevent scratching and rubbing.there are protective film on the both side of acrylic board, please peel it off before using.

Really tiny books or maybe manga size. You would need book ends on either side though and those tend to be heavy. I probably wouldn't recommend them for that but double check the weigh limit. You could lay them down but the first two rizers you would only be able to hold one or two. These are not deep. They are 12x8x6 the 12 is the length left to right. So just not deep enough for most books.
