Madison Reed Light Works Balayage Kit – Lazio Toffee

Loved this product , salon results for a fraction of the cost. Be sure to read the instructions throughly, there are several steps but you will love the results and your pocketbook will love you too!

The kit did what it said it Would do once I stopped using the applicator which I am pretty sure was invented by someone who has never colored hair. Use a toothbrush type brush as an applicator. Wish they sold the toner separately because it’s awesome!

I rarely leave poor reviews but I must warn y'all. I had high hopes for this product as I am a single mom with no time to go to the salon and it was hella expensive for at home hair kits so I thought it was high quality. Well... lets just say my hopes and dreams were dashed on the rocks like some Burnenette's vodka. To set the scene I am in my bathroom trying to complete this very time consuming procedure, the lightening mix was clumpy AF and would not stay on my hair, the applicator tool was the most ineffective piece of equipment I've held in my hands since...well we won't go there but it was horrible and I even watched the YouTube videos on how to do it and everything. I somehow weirdly ended up with darker hair than I started out with. SO disappointed Madiosn Reed!!

was not super impressed with the color payoff- to be fair, i have a lot of old demi color build up but it was a pretty low lift; i saw somewhere online that this kit only lifts 3-4 levels. the toner also didn’t really do anything due to how low the lift was. the application was fairly easy, the madison reed kits are always comprehensive and put together but for the price- no. I find it best to buy some bleach kit or just bleach and developer to DIY.

End result looked like the $300 Balayage from my hairdresser. Couldn’t be happier with this outcome considering the value for the money.

After my stylist turned my brown hair black I turned to Madison Reed. This product helped lighten my hair back to medium brown. The applicator is not easy to use and this is definitely a two person project, but it did what I needed with little to no odor as well.

I am not sure about the negative reviews. I feel like some of them might be user error. I have experience with cutting and coloring my own hair. I currently had 3N (darkest brown) Ion permanent color on my roots and grown out through my hair. My ends, (about 1/3 of my hair), had L'Oréal Hicolor in purple and red in them. So, I honestly thought that this would not work well, however, I was pleasantly surprised! The kit is great. It comes with everything you need plus very detailed instructions. I left the lightener on for 40ish minutes and the toner for 25 and I could not believe how awesome it looks! Before the toner, my hair was bright red/orange but the toner worked wonders! I purchased this product because it claimed to be an all-in-one solution for Balayage and included a tool to assist with the process. However, I found the tool difficult to use and ended up using a brush instead, I had already done the mixture, so I had to think fast, which defeated the purpose of purchasing the product. Additionally, after reading the instructions, I realized that it recommended only coloring half of the hair, which was not consistent with my understanding of Balayage. Moreover, there wasn't enough product to cover my whole hair. I would suggest visiting a local beauty supply store and purchasing the items separately, as the color did not turn out as expected. I chose the cool toffee shade, but it ended up looking redder/orange than I had anticipated, and I had to darken some areas. The product also had a strong effect on my hair and resulted in a lot of split ends. In hindsight, I believe I could have achieved better results at a lower cost by purchasing the items separately. I initially bought this product for the sake of convenience, but it didn't live up to my expectations.
