How does the straw stay in the cup? Is the bottom of the straw Weighted?

No. The straws are a little bit heavier than ordinary but not weighted. We use them in tall cups 16 oz or more) and there is no issue. I don't know how they would work in the Styrofoam cups as shown in the sales page.

These look like spider legs.. where can I get some black ones to stick random giant spider legs in random places..?

Did you search for "black plastic straws"? Maybe add flexible?

Can these be used with hot beverages?

I haven’t tried, but they seem thick enough to withstand hot temperatures.
