I need to adjust the tension but don’t have a “tension rod” mentioned in instructions - can I use something else instead?

Are they quiet? It’s going to be used on a full door between a home kitchen and sitting area. I can’t have it squeak each time it’s used. Door is 67lb

They are quiet, once they start making noise it may be time replace them or lubricate them until you replace them, it depends how heavy your door is, if its got alot of particle board it in, the hinges will wear out sooner.
