Ideal as a backup
Pros: Easy to use and set-up. Records line-in feeds from dual male phono plugs or 3.5mm mini-phone plug at 128 kbps, so mp3 files take up little space on either USB flash drive or SDRAM memory card, so can store many hours of audio.Cons: Records from many line-out sources at about 1/6 normal volume, and produces a 30 db background noise. This would normally make recording unusable as is, but since I have audio editing software, can eliminate the background noise and boost the volume to normal levels without sacrificing audio quality by saving as 44 kbps which is even higher quality than most mp3 music recordings.Use: Had a pro-CD recorder which finally gave up the ghost. We originally were using it to record vocal and upload to net, but the tech changed and were using the new sound board with USB recording features and relegated the CD Recorder as a back-up. Still needed a back-up, so decided to try this cheaper alternative. As a back-up recording device, it suits our needs, since the output can be boosted and db noise eliminated using any good audio editing software producing a usable replacement audio file if needed.

Totally defective
The description seemed very promising. It could be turned on both with the remote control and with the only onboard press-button. It should have been turned off the same way, but was not responsive. No other remote control push-button was responsive. No file could be recorded.

Terrible Sound
I experimented with different connecting cables (3.5mm v A/V) and different memory devices for storage, all with the same effect: terrible sound. The audio it produced was tinny and had a consistent hiss, even when the source I was recording from did not.I returned this product. It's really too bad. If I could find a functioning version of this I would be happy to buy it.
