A lot weaker
These still smell like smelling salts but they are very much weaker than they used to be. According to the website of the company on the back of the bottle they are 8.820g Ammonia Liquor 880/890 and 0.539g Eucalyptus Oil. According to an old bottle label (way back when) they were 15% Ammonia, 5% Phenol, and 1% eucalyptus oil. Of course the changes would be a bit here and then a bit there but this is what they are now. They are ok but not as good as they were.

Consistently effective and still strong with ammonia
This is something in my life which has remained consistent. As pungent….ammonia………and as strong as the first time I used 40-50 years ago, makes your eyes water as well as clearing your nose and waking you up!

Clearing blocked sinuses
I have used McKenzie's smelling salts for years to clear blocked sinuses when nothing else has worked. It's a brilliant product BUT use it carefully and in a limited way. Ensure the screwtop is firmly tightened but don't overscrew it or the bakelite can split.

Clears the head
Great for clearing a stuffy nose or relieving slight dizziness. Quite potent and very expensive but its efficacy will last for a great many months. Handy pocket size. Full recommendation.
