In this gripping saga, filled with intrigue, sex and drama, historians chart the dramatic rise and epic fall of one of the most notorious families in history. This is the inside track on the social climbing, backstabbing and power games that ensured success at the Tudor court. The right move can make you the most powerful dynasty in England. But the wrong one can lose you your status, or your head. Episode 1 tells the story of Thomas Boleyn, a charming opportunist who seizes every chance to rise through the hierarchy of court, taking his young family with him. Episode 2 sees the Boleyns ascend to the very top. But they make deadly enemies along the way. Episode 3 is a Tudor cautionary tale. This family has risen so high, the only way is down. The Boleyns are destroyed – but their legacy is the most successful Boleyn of them all, Elizabeth I. With a different lens on a familiar story, new light is shed on a family that has often been misunderstood. How did the Boleyns rise so high and fall so fast, and in the process, change the course of English history?

Disappointed that this was a documentary.
I had expected something more along the lines of 'Mary Queen of Scots', with some actual scandal, a movie, rather than a factual recounting of history. As a documentary, it probably ticked all the boxes......

Not what I expected by a long-shot
I disliked this production intensely ... The sight & sound of these historians talking you through, yakking away, killed the situation for me stone dead. I was expecting a drama, a film portraying the historical events & carying the viewer through those times with competent actors. Wow! what a disappointment.

Good Tudor drama/documentary
A different way of looking at the Anne Boleyn story. Taking a closer look at the Boleyn family an ambitious crowd indeed. Sadly the supporters of Anne were there when the going was good but dumped her when things went wrong.

BBC docu-drama
I missed this when it was on television. There is too much scenes showing the historians rather than the actors doing the drama. It is very informative though.
