This latch is coated steel not wrought iron. Its coating was chipped and it also appeared that a previous chip was painted before shipping in a repair attempt.

It’s not we’ll made. It’s all design. The second the actual latch part- meaning the need to keep two sliding barn doors from separated- is tested, the latch pops off. And now it’s junk. If you want aesthetic, great. If you want it to work, hard pass

I have now ordered another. This bar is used to secure our back privacy fence gate. The gate has a latch, however, it is not secure. We secure the gate with this bar; very heavy duty. Living in an area that has had thefts from garages and yards. Twice now, someone has pulled our back privacy fence gate out toward the alley. The gate opens inward, not outward. They have pulled it so hard we've had to lift the gate to straighten it back out to close. the only thing that prevented the gates from opening was this bar. I have recently ordered another to give it double the strength. The only thing I wish is that this bar was longer; another 6 inches would be ideal for our use. Very strong.
