Q: Did anyone use this,after having that stinky fire smell in the house days after a fire & after cleaning the ashes out? did it get rid of the smell?

If you have adequate ventilation in your house, there will be no stinky smell. Before you have another fire in your fireplace, I STRONGLY recommend that you stop by your local fire department and talk to them about it. You might be poisoning yourself. There should be NO oder from the fireplace into the house, absolutely none.

Q: Can this be used in a wood stove?

Thomas M: Yo, bro. It says on the package that it works more effectively in wood stoves so I'm pretty sure the correct answer is "yeah, b." I've been using these in my wood stove for a few years. They're $7.99 at my local grocery store though..
